These glitches are baffling. I've never experienced them, and can't begin to imagine what would cause them.

@DeimosAnamoly: If the new menu is not showing up altogether, that tells me you're probably running an old version of GZDoom. Make sure you have the latest, official version of GZDoom (Which can be found here: http://www.osnanet.de/c.oelckers/gzdoom/download.html). Go ahead and extract this version and play Lasting Light with this. The Lasting Light Settings is also located within the Options menu on the main menu. If this fails to work, please notify me once more.

@DeimosAnomaly: Thank you for the compliment. I would love to see a map meant for this. I believe there are one or two in the works.

NOTE TO EVERYONE: I failed to express this within the main post, but I feel it should be known. When you activate the Stalker (The chase music begins), the Screecher and the Creeper should be "suspended" until you escape from her. If at any point, you are running from the Stalker and see or hear the Screecher or Creeper, this is a glitch. Notify me if this happens. It never did in my play testing, so I assumed they were properly "suspended" while I was being chased.

The Creeper's lurking sound is kind of... Peaceful. I love it! But I think it's pretty unfitting how he is completely bright in the dark, I think he should be at ~40% of it's brightness.

@RiboZurai: I'll see what I can do about this. It probably would help make him more ominous.

If you want experiment with light effects, try this:

Still making tweaks for my unofficial expansion Blackened Souls I'm trying to find a way of defense besides the lantern ie... Throwable flares that function the same way as the lantern they would only burn for about 35 seconds before going out I was also working on the prospect of a flare gun and a revolver with phosporus coating on the bullets which wil cause a short but incredibly bright flash that would illuminate the area much better than the lantern but of course the revolver has drawbacks: players might go "oh sweet a gun, now I can get those suckers back!" But this wouldn't be the case it's only for illumination other ideas is that the bright flash would send the creeper away if he was in the range of the flash I'm expecting to get shot down for this but what the hell? Tweaks are Tweaks.

Flares thrown or shot will be scarce if non existent

Bullets are easy enough to get however the phosphorus powder isn't going to be that easy to get as it would be an item left by the stalker as a reward for outlasting her the powder bag will convert all ammunition stocked up as well as what's in the cylinder to phosphorus coat flash rounds

I thought I had gotten immune to being scared by videogames, specially FPS's... You proved me wrong. Great job!

Very moody and atmospheric, pretty much everything fits together pretty well. If I had to make some suggestions though, I'd second what RiboZurai said about the brightness of the creeper, and I'd also say that the stalker's sprites could be made scarier.

Also, don't you think it would be awesome if this worked with heretic/hexen? I think the maps would fit the the mod very well!

Funny you should say that, because in a similar vein, I made something a while back that I never got around to advertising here...

Lasting Light: Chex Quest 3

As the name implies, load this on top of Lasting Light to play it in Chex Quest 3. I threw it together a couple of months ago for fun, because I thought the strange dichotomy of the cutesie Chex Quest world against the darkness of Lasting Light was amusing.

I suppose I could do the same for Heretic and Hexen as well, if there's demand. Shouldn't be terribly difficult.

The creeper scared me alot and almost made me throw my mouse.
anyway that was an awesome experience for me. I noticed a glitch playing on lan with this with my friend. when I lower my light, he appears to lower his light too on my side, but when I look at his monitor, my light is still on because he has his light on... Is this some sort of clientside error?
I'll definitely keep playing this though. :P

edit: when I die in co-op and respawn, I don't have the lantern at all. :(
maybe this isn't suited/ready for multiplayer yet?

Having tried this myself before and taking a quick look at the decorate it is definitely not intended for more than one player at once.
