Heh, well now I'm convinced. The next version of this source port has to be called Susan,
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! i would happily rip my arms off and shove them down my throat then call Zdoom "Susan." SUSAN IS NOT A SOURCE PORT NAME! :P

Hell yeah! I would never call Zdoom "Susan." That's fucking gay.

Well in Australia we're meant to say zed, but I say zeedoom because it's easier to say :P (it's one continuous sound, zeedoom rather than zed-doom)

That said, here is a little video clip of a Swede saying ZDoom, and... I admit... Susan.
Enjoy.

Just a quick off-topic post. I managed to format my harddrive and forgot to take a backup of my maps. Then I recovered them but they seem to be corrupted. If anyone would like to help me repair the wads, if it's even possible, I'd be very grateful.

Edit - problem solved

It got renamed EDGE - Enhanced Doom Gaming Engine. It is still being developed, albeit slowly, by three of the original team members.

I thought ZDoom got it's name from the ZLib general purpose compiler. I know for a fact that ZDoom uses ZLib as there are files for Zlib among ZDooms source code.

ZLib general purpose compiler.
zlib is a compression library. Part of it's use is to help make .png files.

It was ZDoom before it ever used zlib.

Maybe I chose the "Z" just so that everybody can wonder how to pronounce it.

I can only guess that the "Z" came from anime/japanese videogame influences, because Randy is an anime fan.

Dragonball Z, Bahamut Zero, Super Secret Spaceship RX-XR etc.

Return to “General”
