Could use some contrast between the wall planks and the floor planks, to be honest; while I'm sure the architecture of the ship is fine, without it being in motion, it looks quite a bit like it's just one solid brown woody blob. =P

Yeah, i still need to add some textures for itwildweasel wrote:Could use some contrast between the wall planks and the floor planks, to be honest; while I'm sure the architecture of the ship is fine, without it being in motion, it looks quite a bit like it's just one solid brown woody blob. =P

Now, some questions for you guys:
1) Would you prefer new releases with a longer development time and more maps, or smaller development time and less maps? For example i could release a new beta after making 4 new levels, but that would take me alot of time.
2) Would you like 3d models for coins? They'd look pixelized, voxel-like

1.i think your ol' beta needs to be upgrade i think.
making a different versons, that should be work.
2.unless it doesn't make any fps drops and model's shape is looking good.
anyway, thanks for new teasing screenshot, matey!

Why make it look voxel-like when they could BE voxels? And I'd go for longer development time for higher quality results myself.

Zandronum doesn't support voxels. Even if it did, the GL renderer would turn them into models.Death Egg wrote:Why make it look voxel-like when they could BE voxels?

I'd say smaller, but more common releases. This will keep the hype going AND will give you feedback on your work faster, allowing you to improve whatever you make almost right after it's being released. But of course, the overall quality of the project is more important than amount and size of updates, so if you think updating faster will decrease the quality, don't update faster.
To be honest I like sprites. But I guess as long as there is some patch/option that makes coins sprited, I do not really care if there are models or voxels or whatever.

Re: DooM : The Golden Souls [Beta 1.0][Back on Track!]
Sorry for the bump, but I've stumbled upon a (or several, really) bug. A quite annoying one, actually. Every time I finish a level, the console says it fails to load the next level. And in order to get back to the mansion, I have to go back to the menu and start a new game. After I go back to the mansion, I'm left with no weapons and one coin. And I can't use any of the weapons I've already picked up until I pick up a new weapon on the next level (if I can find one).
Definitely a longer development time with more maps. Take as long as you like. The longer the development time is, the better it'll be once you release it.Batandy wrote:1) Would you prefer new releases with a longer development time and more maps, or smaller development time and less maps?
I usually find 3D models unattractive in GZDoom. I like the coins the way they are.Batandy wrote:2) Would you like 3d models for coins? They'd look pixelized, voxel-like

Th coins should really be shinier. Right now they look like brown turds.

Actually they remind me of those orange fruits you would collect in Crash Bandicoot, except more over-the-hill looking.SamVision wrote:Th coins should really be shinier. Right now they look like brown turds.

Also, what's the status on this? I noticed Batandy started another project, but I really want this finished so I can vote for it!

Yes, I must agree with Obsidian. This needs a cacoward. Plus, it's only got two maps and I find myself playing the same levels over and over again. =P
I offered to help in his latest project, so maybe he'll let me lend him a hand. That way, he'll have more time for this.

I'm proud to announce that i've nearly completed the beach level! only the boss level's left for the first area.
Here's a hint about the second area: If you're a DuckTales fan, and you think that the Moon level was really badass, you're going to love one of the next maps!
