Re: [WIP] Supplice -- Welcome to Candyland!
There we go!
I still don't think they're quite D64, though they seem to be based off of 'em...
I just took a look at the devblog... and I gotta say WHOLLU KAU.
Those weapons look amazing! I'm liking the Auto-Turret idea for the minigun. And the sprite for the Plasma Blaster... so awesome.

Good eye - you'll be able to find that guy in game in a more fitting contextGez wrote:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SkiFree
Don't worry, that was the first thing I sorted out when making monsters.Gez wrote:If the D64 sprites aren't scaled down, exclusive monsters like the arch-vile are going to look tiny in comparison. Unless they're the ones to be scaled up, I guess.

That Dawn sky and UNC was the best touch.

I think that was still supposed to say UAC, not UNC. Many months ago, I imagined a similar symbol for the UAC myself, which would involve three similar-looking characters arranged like so.

Yea that screen is supposed to say 'UAC'. The font is just stylized, heh

Wow! Love what I'm seeing here... Especially the duke3d influences in the map design. (The incubator is clearly an influence here) oh and i only read that as uac. When you've been looking at uac on boxes and screens etc for over 20 years anything that looks remotely like is read as uac wether you want to or not... Lol...

I already know and it was intentional. But hey, it kinda does looks like N rather than A.DoomKrakken wrote:I think that was still supposed to say UAC, not UNC. Many months ago, I imagined a similar symbol for the UAC myself, which would involve three similar-looking characters arranged like so.

The UAC logo in Supplice looks like this:
Thanks for the comments, I might go through some textures and try to improve readability - I made those myself so I know what it's supposed to be and I've been looking for them for so long I didn't consider the readability might be not as clear in low res So thanks again.
Also glad you like the shots! Lunar Apocalypse episode of Duke Nukem 3d does a pretty good job of conveying space station atmosphere so that was a pretty big influence for this theme.

Re: [WIP] Supplice -- Welcome to Candyland!
its a nice homage rather than a rip off which is nice to see. like how some btsx ep one maps have that doom64 feel to them and some have the quake 2 feel to them but with an overarching doominess that beautifully compliments the weapon/item/monster placing within. essentially the kind of professionalism we've all come to expect from you guys... keep it up!

I agree with this also. its great as is...DoomKrakken wrote:Leave the logo as-is.

Agreed. I didn't even say i hate the logo after all. Therefore, as-is sounds like a good idea to make another logo.
