Thank you.Hellser wrote:In due time, I'll make a software-friendly patch for GSA, we're just getting the key elements stuff out of the way before I'll work on it. (To ensure what we got already we're pretty fine with)

Re: [WIP] Genesis Saga Aurora
Uploaded, it's in both the Dropbox and SVN (under the name HR_GSA_SoftwarePatch, please load it under RC_HR_GSA.pk3.
Here's some screenshots of it in action!

Changes so far included:
* Smoke from all missile attacks are now software friendly.
* Reverted the torches back to DooM style and made the flames 25% Translucent (75% Opaque), operates the same as the "OpenGL" variants. (Can be turned on and off).
If I notice anything else that needs to be changed to software friendly, I'll update the patch accordingly. I might do something with the lamps. Might not, we'll see.

Genesis Saga Aurora once again requires Tower of Babel to run correctly.
What did you miss when you were last here?

Re: [WIP] Genesis Saga Aurora
When I got r161 version, it was goddamn fun to play. Few questions...
Do you mostly got your feedback through IRC?
Or is there other sources to report/give criticism?
And how often you release patches/fixes/new stuff? I seem always dragging behind.

You can give your feedback here, along with any bugs you might find (but please note we probably know most of the bugs, atleast the obvious ones).
Also, to see new releases / patches / new stuff, see here. The dropbox download on the OP is updated every day at 7:00 AM Eastern Time, or unless Ryan tells me that GSA has been updated, where I will go ahead and force the new compression / upload.

Re: [WIP] Genesis Saga Aurora
I hope the to-do-list gave away the obvious ones. But... some have persisted from last version I played, from r161, so I don't know is this some oversight or what. Plus, I currently use r207 version, with only the files I need to run.Hellser wrote:You can give your feedback here, along with any bugs you might find (but please note we probably know most of the bugs, atleast the obvious ones).
Still giving few bug notes, one question and overall feedback from stuff.
The Armor enhancement (or armor piece for me.) When you snag on blue armor, and collect the armor piece (assuming you got 200 armor points), you get nothing. That's normal, until your armor has taken damage. When you grab armor piece, you receive nothing in armor.
(Same was on r161.)
Health system, especially on grunt. You can use your medkits only up to 100 plus leftovers. After that, you can't use any medkits until you get damage.
(Don't know is this feature.)
Storm Autocannon. You can pick it up, but you can't select it, or drop it by normal way.
Flamethrower has infinite ammo.
(Same was on r161.)
Do different characters use only specific weapons? Every character, except Doomguy, can only have certain weapon only.
I like the new way with guns. Now, you can ponder which guns you should tag along, instead of hunting desperately "the" gun. And it is good to use something else for change, if you get bored.
Mod itself is challenging, even in UV. And the Genesis of god the Genesis skill

I still had load of things to say (probably.) Posting them when I remember. =P

Re: [WIP] Genesis Saga Aurora
.. Fuck me silly. I renamed the Storm Cannon and forgot to change it in the DS files and elsewhere.
Also I dunno about you, but the Flamethrower does take away ammo. I think I see what you mean about the armor bonuses though. And Grunt.

Re: [WIP] Genesis Saga Aurora
The "To Do" list is a lie, if you noticed, everything I did was back in like.. r100~ era.
Now, the Doomguy was originally just 'The Player', not a class of his own. Ryan recently added in Crash and Grunt. I'm not sure what he has planned as of yet, since I'm still in thought of what to do for the Super Shotgun and Particle Weapon variants... and he won't progress too far without me getting off of my lazy ass.

Re: [WIP] Genesis Saga Aurora
It indeed does, but after you exhaust your ammo, you can still fire away. Or so happened.Ryan Cordell wrote:Also I dunno about you, but the Flamethrower does take away ammo.
Also, I consider this as an exploit:
Cyberdemon is very, very vulnerable to sustained RK9 Ion Rifle fire. One clip is usually enough to deal with cybie. For others, it is normal.
.:edit:.
Both of them can be confirmed.
Flamethrower consumes ammo, but you can still fire away even if you used your ammo.
And cybie can be shot down with Ion Rifle with one clip.

Le fraggin' fixed. The flamethrower was being a pest since day one it was implemented. Now after several years (not exaggerating) it's finally fixed. Dear jeebies.

Re: [WIP] Genesis Saga Aurora
One step at a time. The upgrades are still being worked on. Just Ryan is taking a break from it and working on the new classes.
