@Skunk - No problem! The big difference between Doom3 and Doom2 is, that it doesn't come to your mind in regular Doom2, to use a terminal, that just looks exactly like one of the other 293749345621795835462965 Million terminals, you have seen before, because, why should this one and only COMPSTA1 texture be of any use?

@kirby - Looks nice, I should almost consider your person working on KDiZD... what do others think?

That would be the perfect solution in my eyes (as long as it is toggable!)Precisely. What I'm think of (and many more are) is indeed a red arrow in the Doom font/style and make it bob in the air above an important terminal/ object, like the healrh vials in Hexen and heretic. So what'll it be then?

Practically, none. You pretty much have to pay attention to the computer screens and such. Otherwise, stuff will just auto-happen. (If you pay close attention, you can get the BFG before you enter hell)Skunk wrote:Dude, just trying to help, jeez.
What kind of headsup does Doom 3 give to alert you of things that can be used?

The display on the screens usually have large red boxes that catch your attention. As you near them, you can, due to the high resolution, with a quick glance read the text on the screen and se OK buttons etc.Skunk wrote:Dude, just trying to help, jeez.

If you get closer to the screen and face it, it says a low "bleep" and your gun lowers.

All: The other solution would be to have text or a graphic appear in the HUD, when you get near something usable... perhaps even lower the current weapon, ala Doom 3. The big problem is that I'm not sure any of that would even be possible .
Ninja_of_DooM: have you considered working on E1M6 in week 2? It'd save NMN having to rush quite so much .

Grrr... The resource file doesn't have sounds for teh polyobjects. That can't be good.
Oh yeah, concerning the TITLEMAP-
You guys wanna:
1.Strife-styled intro
(static pictures of what happened before The Lone Marine entered the Hangar, but static pictures and writings nonetheless)
Pros:
-originality
-unique atmosphere
Cons:
-takes a whole load of time to make
2.Doom-styled intro
(sprites walking in a 3d world, smart-ass camera actions and such stuff)
Pros:
-much faster
-what we're used to pretty much
Cons:
-cutscenes like that look dumb and unrealistic
-camera will probably fudge up sometimes

I was thinking: have you guys seen that one Wolf3D Demo that guy uploaded that is an almost exact replica of the game? Well, he used a very cool and impressive trick to replicate BJ do the greatest cutscene in FMV history. In case you don't know, when he gets out of the final level after killing Hans Grosse he goes running out of Wolfenstein and jumps in the air screaming YEAH! Can we do something like that with sprites? I could probably do the sprites up, we abuse the living crap out of decorate, and we can have our cutscene. I also think we should do a mix of the two, with the pictures and text. Enjay can help with that, since he did a very impressive job on Marine Assault. (Damn I'm talking about this project like I actually did some work on it.)
