How's it done?

Post by Anonymous »

I'm just re-discovering all my old (but still great!) doom engine games with the help of Zdoom!
However, I'd like to know, what is the process to load user-made levels... I downloaded a third party launcher, but it does not work with the 2.0 versions of Zdoom.
So, can anyone please tell me how it's done? Thanks in advance!

I'll assume you're using Windows. Go to Start, then Run then find zdoom.exe. Then -file (nameofwad).wad. This assumes that the wad is in the same directory as ZDoom.

or you can just drag the files you want to play onto zdoom.exe.

Or you can create a batch file with the desired command line, e.g.:

zdoom -file <name of wad> <name of wad> -warp <map number> -skill <skill level>

You guys must all be glutons for punishment. Type, type, type ... until the fingers are raw.

I have been recommending UNLEASHED for quite some time, to start ZDOOM and/or add-on pwads, source pwads, dehacked patches, etc.

imoh, no other launcher comes even close in ease of use.

Launchers? Pfft. I was born and raised with the DOS prompt, and I never get sick of typing!
