The problem, as I see it, is that the dark band is very dark. If that section of the texture was closer in colour/lightness to the rest it would alleviate the problem Essel mentioned and make the textures more useful generally. I know that there are dark bits on the id originals too but I have always thought they looked a bit weird. With panels such as these, I think they are too obvious.
@rabbitslayer - nice crates - but the blue triangle/number/logos might look more like they are actually on the crate side if they also had a bit of the underlying grain of the texture showing through. Perhaps something a little like...
I also notice that the blue you used is not in the Doom palette. Not a problem as such. Merely an observation.
