Before posting your Resource, please make sure you can answer YES to any of the following questions:
Is the resource ENTIRELY my own work?
If no to the previous one, do I have permission from the original author?
If no to the previous one, did I put a reasonable amount of work into the resource myself, such that the changes are noticeably different from the source that I could take credit for them?
If you answered no to all three, maybe you should consider taking your stuff somewhere other than the Resources forum.
One problem I always had with these switches is that there is no obvious mechanism to them; I have no idea what the Doomguy is doing to actually turn them on. So I figured I'd make that aspect just a bit more obvious...
Actually, I never really thought about a mechanism for them before. My guess is it would be something a bit secret, like you have to find a small, almost unnoticeable push-button behind one of the ears or something.
Okay, I'll be honest, it's not so much the mechanism I'm worried about, but the mental image of Doomguy yanking on a giant statue tongue to get a door to open just has me in giggles.
...That, and the texture in question looked like a happy dog and I had to oblige it.
(Hey, if anybody uses my texture in your map, make sure it comes equipped with an appropriate squishy noise, okay? =P)
Nice. Most of them are a bit too... actually, I don't know what the style is. I want to say cartoony or Wolfenstein-like. But, yes, they are a bit too [insert suitable word here] for general Doom use but they could be useful as a base for something and in a TC of that style (eg an Astrostein or Blake Stone - like mod (something that I have been toying with for a while)) they could be very useful.
Agreeing with Enjay; they look too clean and pristine for Doom. They're not gritty enough. Also, being very clean textures, they will not play well with the software renderer's brightness banding.
Actually, a select few could work just right as-is. It wouldn't be too hard to give the rest some additional grittiness with some overlay-based fudging.
