Doomsday Engine Flare?
Does anyone know where to get the Doomsday Engine flare as clean graphic? Or is someone capable of recreating it?

You could probably get Doomsday Engine features in your maps by..using that port, I would think...

I know it's not exactly relevant - but those models are damn awful.

He's asking for the graphic used, not the feature itself.esselfortium wrote:You could probably get Doomsday Engine features in your maps by..using that port, I would think...

Except for the Disciple, which is actually true to source...Mikk- wrote:I know it's not exactly relevant - but those models are damn awful.

I think they're awesome, unlike the JDoom models. They really bring Heretic into 21st centuryMikk- wrote:I know it's not exactly relevant - but those models are damn awful.

The gizmo holder's tail ought to be coiled in a circle, rather than a square. But otherwise, it's better quality than I expected from a Doom engine model pack.

The gargoyle brazier thing near the front is pretty decent IMO.
No idea where the flare effect is kept though.

Doomsday.pk3 -> Data -> Graphics -> bigflare.pcx.
Original, gradient mapped, and alpha'd.

Edit: *sigh*

Re: Doomsday Engine Flare?
This is interesting. I tried it out, but it seems that the Doomsday engine renders the flare AND a glow. I used Blox's alpha flare with 50% translucency over the Brutal Doom glow, and I think it worked very well.

EDIT: Link to download the sprites:
http://www.4shared.com/file/uthazDMj/Do ... rites.html
To make it work like in the picture, you need it to use ADD Renderstyle, with alpha 0.4 and make sprites A and B flick between intervals of 1 tic

Before that happens we'd need credit info and authorization from whoever made that graphics for Doomsday.Xtyfe wrote:wow, i'll be a happy panda if those show up on realm667

Or someone just rebuilds them with Photoshop or GIMP, doesn't seem to be too hard at all.Gez wrote:Before that happens we'd need credit info and authorization from whoever made that graphics for Doomsday.Xtyfe wrote:wow, i'll be a happy panda if those show up on realm667
