One hell of a bump there. Tho i'm not sure if it belongs to gallery of useless bumps and i'm not the one to answer, but i don't think mike continued on this sprite but just one walkcycle. He created other whole *different mod* and pretty sure he still makes more neat art stuff on twitter, but that's about it.

You mean his UAC Rifle or the Pulse Rifle ? If it's the former, then I think I already have the sprites, and I have attached them here. I had to use Discord because the attachment limit is comically low here. So that means that this link will eventually vanish too which is cool. So much for things on the internet staying there forever.

So we had a project to preserve all the soon-to-be-deleted imgur links in the projects/resources forum at the time of the announcement. Sadly the "replace all the links" part has stalled, BUT I do have a huge backup of files just sitting around in a google cloud storage bucket. If you want to snag one, get the original imgur link and replace it with https://storage.googleapis.com/images.zdoom.org/filename.png.

For a more permanent image host, maybe people should consider switching to catbox.moe rather than be forced to use imgur, now that we know it's unreliable.

I have a hard time believing a site with a name like "catbox.moe" is any more reliable or trustworthy, if I'm being honest. Imgur is plenty reliable, they just changed their retention policies for anonymous uploads. My images from 2010 are still on my account and served just fine.

Besides, no one is "forced" to use imgur. It's just the most convenient for automatically serving sane image sizes since we have many users on metered or slow connections, mobile browsers, etc. Unrestricted access to the img tag has historically resulted in people dumping large images that work fine for them but break things for others. If you want permission to use it, there's a pinned rules topic about how to get access
