Hang on, I'll make a subdomain and allow anonymous ftp to it...

edit: done

log in to ftp://nightmaster.net with
username: zdcmp2
password: zdcmp

I couldn't make anonymous login because the server (my domain and web hotel) would need a static IP, which would cost me more money.

Someone with a faster connection than me could transfer the files from the kdizd to the zdcmp2 dirs. I don't have the possibility to do this because it'll eat my router's resources for several hours...

Hey Guys!

Post by Talonos »

Yeah, I'm back.

I suddenly have a lot of free time now (Three guesses why) and I want to see how the map is doing. Considering I found it on page three with the last post about a moth ago, I figure it's safe to assume nobody really thinks that it's anybody's turn.

So, yeah. This thing is mired is some pretty deep mud apperently, and I'm not sure If I can pull it out, but I might as well try.

I beg you and I plead you. Please send me the wad in it's current state. worst comes to worst, all you have wasted is the time it takes to send an e-mail. Best case scenario, I'll put this project back on it's feet.

Please?

Good God Talonos, where did you go all this time?

And you'll have to wait before looking at the FTP. I have yet to upload it ( I've been working other projects  )

I've been at my house, where I usually am, only considerably busier than I usually am. But that's pretty much changed now.

I tried to use both of the two links above. One prompts me for a password, and the other seems broken.

You'll need to use the password and user name that is provided in that post.

Hmm... I use the password and username, but the folder like thing I get to is still empty.

If you can get it, kirby, do you mind just E-mailing it to me?

At this point, its a little big for that. I'd have two files anyways, and its just easier if I use the FTP

In any case, I am almost finished uploading them now, and here is my view on things:

Image

This is the map as it stands. As of now, it its too big, and people can easily get astrayed. I have selected one portion of the map in red, and I feel that this portion can be deleted. Completely. All areas aside from the one with the circles and the upside down room are mine, and they are quite frankly worthless to this wad as of now. It is my suggestion that this entire selection be removed, and a new one created where the player can actually get a red keycard and go on the path intended. Whoever wants to do this, by all means go ahead. I strongly suggest that we do this before mapping continues any further.

And hat is all :)

I can't wait to take a look at it. How different is it from where we left it at the end of last summer. Has anything major happened, or not?

Let me know when it's done uploading.

It's now done :) Long DL for 56ker's though :P

I can't say much has changed aside from the adding on to the subterranian area. This seemingly made the map confusing because the player no longer had a defined path. If you want, go ahead and look at the highlighted section in-game, and you will see what was added.

FYI: There is a second player 1 start in the area beyond the bridge. Remove it if you want to play from the normal player 1 start

I've found that it's possible to make a defined path for a player nomatter how the level is shaped. Look at the tricks and traps level in doom 2. If you don't have locked doors, then it turns into a confusing place where there is no defined path. Put in the locked doors, and it works well, even though the level is non-linear. The same thing could work here. If there are different branches branching everywhere, a few locked doors (Or a more interesting equivelent) could make it linear.

Wait, I've checked all of the links on the page, and I don't see the file in any of them.

I just knew something like this would happen. The folder in the link you just gave me appears empty to me, even now.
