I don't think KDiZD as made by the team came released with any new music, apart from the ones for the special fights. KDIZDMUS.WAD was assembled by a fan with music remixes from Kinkiness. I still am curious what music the designers had in mind while making KDiZD. The Kinkiness soundtrack seems to work pretty well for KDiZD -- it has the same lower rhythm with the maps themselves, which are larger and slightly slower. The new tempo of D_INTER worked pretty well with the speed of the intermission camera, and especially this: the length of the D_VICTOR Kinkiness version was the same as the length of the ending credits slideshow.Blue Shadow wrote:Concerning music. Will it be in the same manner as it was with KDIZD, modern remake of the originals? Or are you going for different music with this one?

Re: [WIP] The Shores of Zdoom
As I recall, I remember the official plan was to use the Kinkiness tracks for the music. I think other mixes were debated but these were the ones officially decided on, though I could be wrong as it's been a while since I've visited the KDIZD thread. I think originally the music was going to be included with the mod, but that was eventually dropped.printz wrote:KDIZDMUS.WAD was assembled by a fan with music remixes from Kinkiness. I kinda forgot that those modern music tracks weren't included in KDIZD pk3 but rather as stand-alone/optional package because they're always loaded when I play.
Yes, I meant thoes.printz wrote:KDIZDMUS.WAD was assembled by a fan with music remixes from Kinkiness.

If there is any need for music - new songs, remakes of MIDIs, whatever - I will gladly volunteer to help. I don't think I have the resources or expertise to quite match Kinkiness's quality of work, but I'll certainly put my heart into it. Y'know, if you ever need the help.

Re: [WIP] The Shores of Zdoom
Since it does make sense to eventually cover the entirety of Ultimate Doom in the ZDoom format, I must ask: how far should the updating go? Doom 2? Final Doom? Covering Ult. Doom and Doom 2 should be fine. I know it seems really early to ask that, but it does help to have some kind of plan for this sort of thing.

I'd be seriously surprised if it even reaches "Thy Flesh ZDoomed". And if it ever is, I don't believe the 32-levels IWADs would even be planned after that.

Fair enough, I'm sure it takes long enough just to make one of these things.

You're most likely right when it comes to the 32 level IWADS. As for "Thy Flesh Consumed" that was added as part of The Ultimate Doom, I'm kind of 50/50 on it. All I'm hoping for is that if they're going to call it quits - they at least finish off with last original episode of the game, that being zInferno.

Re: [WIP] The Shores of Zdoom
If they did get ZInferno made, I would like to see a ZDoom trilogy wad.
On another note, is Shores going to take advantage of some of those new features in ZDoom 2.6.0? Like the 3d platforms thing?

It's been answered a few times already, but maybe in a different thead: "Yes, but sparingly".

Re: [WIP] The Shores of Zdoom
Why would they do Doom 2 in a single giga wad? That would be crazy.
Even if Doom 2 wasn't split in episode so literally, it kind of is. At least you can say that each story screen separates an "episode".
I don't think Doom 2 is really a good idea to do anyway. It probably had the least interesting environments ever created in Doom and I'd rather someone make an entirely new project on Earth than base itself on Doom 2's boring designs.
As for Doom 1, I don't care much for Thy Flesh Consumed either. I think making this a trilogy with Inferno would be the perfect way to end it all. It would be far enough work to get to that point, too. Besides, Thy Flesh Consumed is the weakest episode. Episode 1-3 is the classic Doom we all know and love.. right?

I am rare in liking E4, it seems.
Well, somewhat, at least, because I notice many don't seem to like it.

Re: [WIP] The Shores of Zdoom
I'm gonna have to agree with you on both points. Doom II was pretty much fail, and it's environments were too abstract (and abstractly named) to have any sort of logical way to remake them. I strongly disagree with your opinion on the quality of Thy Flesh Consumed, but I will agree that it doesn't seem like a good idea to remake it.SFJake wrote:I don't think Doom 2 is really a good idea to do anyway. Re: [WIP] The Shores of Zdoom
I personally consider episode 3 to be the weakest episode. Sure, E4M3 and E4M4 might be rather poor, but I consider them both to be superior to E3M4 and E3M6; those two maps just seem incredibly amateurish, more like the sort of fan-made .wads that were being released back in the mid '90s than official levels.
Both E3M3 and E3M8 seem like ID were running out of time for a deadline or something. E3M3 because it clearly doesn't belong in the episode (we've left Deimos behind, so why is there another tech base?) and there should have been a hellish map in its place; E3M8 because it seems like something that was churned out in less than 10 minutes.
Going back to episode 4, E4M8 is my favourite boss level, and E4M9 my favourite secret level. I love E4M5 - E4M7, too.
