Re: The ZDoomers' Lets Play Thread
Well sure they're silly, but they're games we own and played in our youth that haven't been LP'ed yet. Also they're seemingly our most popular stuff. Originally I had no intention of LPing Pantsylvania or Infinity City, but after seeing how many people were enjoying the Elroy LPs and mentioning other Headbone Interactive games, I figured I've got a few more Headbone Interactive games, so why not. Plus, we had fun doing it and that's what really counts.Ryan Cordell wrote:You always play the most absurd games on the planet, don't you?
If it makes you feel better, I do have some arguably better LP ideas lined up, like the Incredible Machine series.

Heh. I remember the many hours of my life attempting to solve some of those crazy puzzles.
But I did a test run last night and actually it's working out quite well.

Re: The ZDoomers' Lets Play Thread
The only thing I remember about the Incredible Machine is building contraption after contraption to torture the little human puzzle piece (Mel, I think his name was in the version of the game I was playing.) I also remember my brother building a device that took up the entire play space, maximized the part limit, and all it did was send a tennis ball through a Rube Goldberg machine of madness that self-reset and brought the tennis ball back to the beginning to do it all over again. The description was, "It keeps going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and hey!......... it doesn't stop!" We used it as a screensaver sometimes.

Re: The ZDoomers' Lets Play Thread
The Incredible Machine is an amazing game. I'm quite amazed that, despite there having been numerous remakes (like the Steam-available Crazy Machines 2), none of them have been in true 3D. With the popularity of stuff like Garry's Mod and Halo's Forge mode, I'm amazed that nobody has capitalized on this sort of thing. (Shit, why doesn't someone make a Source mod out of this?)

Re: The ZDoomers' Lets Play Thread
All of them are. Somehow they manage to add a few parts, maybe update the visuals a bit, then make a crapload of new puzzles, and BAM. It's like a brand new game and not at the same time. In this case, never changing the formula* is what makes it great.wildweasel wrote:The Incredible Machine is an amazing game.
Although it seems they never change the physics code, either. Watching a balloon get forced through through a solid wall (in the 2001 edition!) is nothing short of hilarious.
* I shouldn't say never. Updating the custom puzzle builder from the "honor system" to actual triggered solutions was one of the best things they ever did with the series.

Well, it sounds like a lot of you have interest in The Incredible Machine.
So without further delay, here is the first video in my Let's Play The Incredible Machine series:
NOTE: I have no idea why the thumbnail graphic is so blurry and pixelated, but the video itself looks decent. Could be better, but the next videos I'll be working on that so hopefully it'll improve.
