[Resource] UAC Computer Screens
I was bored so I pieced together some computer screens for a techbase. They are in the Doom palette.

Nice. I like the incorporation of the new UAC logo in the old Doom style/colours. Phobos and Deimos too.

Re: [Resource] UAC Computer Screens
ive always wondered, the original screens feature Earth, Mars, a nebula, and is that a UV image of a sun shooting off a solar flare?

Yep. Well, it's not Mars, but the fictional planet/moon Tei Tenga, it probably is a picture of Mars though, or some other planet.

Re: [Resource] UAC Computer Screens
Tei Tenga may have been just a ray-traced sphere. They were a dime a dozen at the time. (I even got a shovelware CD shock full of ray traced stuff in "SuperVGA high resolution" like 800x600! ) It is much "smoother" in its coloring than actual planets (compare with Mars on your panels).

I found a program online http://www.mindtrace.net/spheres/spheres.htmlTei Tenga may have been just a ray-traced sphere.
The sphere didn't go down to well with the palette though

Actually, I quite like the effect it produces. Not all palette-rape is bad, it seems.

Indeed, I quite like it too (the effect reminds me a little of Jupiter). However, I don't suppose you have an unpaletted version for people who might want to use it in GZdoom do you?

Overlaying it with a subtle layer of clouds or something could help ease the palettization process.

Saturn looks pretty smooth too.Gez wrote:It is much "smoother" in its coloring than actual planets (compare with Mars on your panels).

Saturn is a gas giant. Tei Tenga wasn't supposed to be. Even in shoddy sci-fi you don't build crater bases on a gas giant. (A cloud city, sure. But not something on the ground.)

Well, no, but you can still take photos of a planet on whose satellite you're going to build a base (TNT-base over Jupiter).Gez wrote:Saturn is a gas giant. Tei Tenga wasn't supposed to be. Here's all the textures before they were converted to Doom palette. However, I don't suppose you have an unpaletted version for people who might want to use it in GZdoom do you?
