I've been having this problem with Doom Builder 2. I will work on a map for 3 hours getting everything perfect, but when I save I receive a dialog box that says
I/O Error cannot write to wadname, check to see if it is in use by another program.
I don't understand what other program would be using it, well except for gzdoom, but I don't have it constantly running.
any help would be most appreciated.
I/O Error when writing to [wadname]? halp!

Re: I/O Error when writing to [wadname]? halp!
okay I have a suggestion before anything else goes wrong. If you can still run it from the testing menu, DB saves a temp version of the wad in a temp folder on your computer. You could, after gzdoom closes after testing, copy that file and use it. You'd just have to rename it.
To look it up go to Tools->Game Configurations->Click the testing tab.
In the dialog box at the bottom of the window labeled "Result", you'll find the path to the temp file there.
EDIT: I just tested this and it does work.

Okay thanks, thats helpful, I've lost progress on 3 maps total already, but that should work it out. I'm still curious as to why it gives me this problem though.

If you've got Windows XP SP 2 or higher you might use Process Monitor (MS / Sysinternals) to help figure out what process is locking the file.
