You sure? Taking me there just leads back to the old Doomworld site, and the link to the forum is still busted.Kinsie wrote:There's issues with the DNS change to the new server. Until it's fixed, use http://www.doom.world/ instead.

Alright. Contracts are officially bullshit now.
I did four contracts with their bonus in the last few weeks. What did I get?
Pistol and 3 SMGs. And guess what: Except for the Pistol, they all look ugly.
Edit: OK, one is worth almost a euro, but still.

Played some Knight's Contract not too long ago. I like the premise, but goddamn these Quicktime event boss killings! Also I never found the AI to be anywhere near as horrifying as IGNorance put it. Yes Gretchen will get herself killed a bit easily if you don't pay attention and carry her everywhere, but that's the point I thought. The absolute worst thing I recall was the severe button mashing required to revive. There should have been a way to do that at any point so that you don't get cornered at the last second in a bad fight, and without just picking up Gretchen.

Re: The New What Did You Last Do Thread
Interesting couple of days last week. My daughter and I went on her first serious hill walk. We went up Lochnagar. It was a nice enough day weather-wise but near the top it became overcast and the wind really picked up. The wind chill took it down to an effective temperature of -2 degrees Celsius (about 28 Fahrenheit). Yay for July in Scotland! Then a day later, I went with my son so that he could cash-in a present he'd got for his birthday from his uncle: the opportunity to drive a tank (specifically, this tank). He drove, I rode, it was pretty neat.

i can't decide if that is a modified tank or an early APC (Armored Personal Carrier).

The guy did tell us but the engine was really noisy, I could hardly hear him and I can't remember. I'm sure someone will know. There was quite a bit of room for passengers in the back so maybe APC.
I remember that it has a Rolls Royce engine (6+ litres - I forget exactly) and can run on basically any flammable liquid that you can find "from whisky to frying oil" and it does about 5 miles to the gallon.

Re: The New What Did You Last Do Thread
My main data HD has suddenly quit. When I can get the system to realize there's a disk there at all, it just hangs trying to actually do anything with it. So getting it to work for just a few hours to pull everything important/irreplaceable off there isn't even an option.
Since I probably don't have the money for professional data recovery (assuming that could even help), I guess everything on there is gone.

That's definitely an APC, a tank would have a big gun (not necessarily on a turret, but it'd have one). My guess would be that it's this one.

I have a new, vastly superior phone job where I can sit here F5'ing. Haven't done that in a couple years because, like, I have a life and a fiance and things to do. Except right now. When I'm F5'ing the forums.

SpinRite before you give up on it entirely.NeuralStunner wrote:My main data HD has suddenly quit. That might be helpful if (as already stated) I could access the drive in any way. It simply won't respond properly (as evidenced by any bootable PE that offers a "Verbose" option).DoomRater wrote:SpinRite before you give up on it entirely.
