Vanilla absolutely. Prboom+ plays back midi natively.
Chocolate Doom may enforce it, however.

Basically the test you have to do is "does MIDI2MUS convert it successfully y/n" and to run that test you need to run MIDI2MUS. I am not aware that MIDI2MUS' source code was ever released, so I do not believe it to be included in PrBoom+ or even Chocolate Doom. But I know it is included in vanilla Doom (from version 1.5 onward) so that's what I recommended.

Given that the MUS format is known and that several MUS2MIDI programs have been written, it's possible a non-official MIDI2MUS thing was created, but if any source port includes it it would be Chocolate Doom, not PrBoom+. Keep in mind that the MUS format is only needed natively by DMX's sound library, which is only used by vanilla Doom; every other port in existence need to convert MUS files to MIDI in order to play them, so it would be kinda pointless and stupid to convert MIDI->MUS->MIDI unless you want to make sure your port has a chance of failing to play back long or complex MIDIs.

Got a brand new case, PSU, and liquid cooler. The case is a major upgrade in space alone, since I've gone from a mini ATX tower to a mid-tower. Lots of fans, too. PSU mounts at the bottom, with its fan to the outside instead of inside. (I got a 700W modular PSU with a NewEgg promo code, even.) The LC radiator I attached to one of the front fans, and the fan that came with the LC is now at the top of the case.

I have never run a computer this cool before. It's awesome.
