Tribeam's Wad Extractor(Beta)

Post by Tribeam »

Spoiler: Wad Extractor
What it does:
It extracts all the files within a wad file into a folder with a ZDoom pk3 file structure.

How to use:
Everything you need to know is in the help button.

Note:
This is still in beta stage which means I guarantee someone will find a bug somewhere.

igpack11.wad - Having a nicely organized wad to test with.

EDIT: due to a typo i missed there was serious bug, i fixed it and you should download the new 0.2 version.

EDIT2: Version 0.3 released - Fixed a bug that caused the extractor to extract the contents of a wad to the root of the partition you selected. Also some code clean up.

This sounds pretty handy. :)

To really give it the stress test though, you'll need a badly organized wad to test with. ;)

I wonder how well it would work on ZPack. Might have to extract all the individual wads first, but it's worth a shot. Hmm...

Yeah, this does look pretty handy.
I would probably still use slade to extract all the files, but since this is standalone It probably runs alot smoother while extracting 1400 fucking files.

Doesn't bagheadspidey's Unwad program do exactly this?

I thought Unwad was specifically for graphics.

http://baghead.drdteam.org/unwad.xml

It says on the features list that you can turn a WAD into a PK3 structure easily.

I'm guessing Tribeam's program will satisfy those who like GUIs, though :P

Version 0.3 is released and fixes a bug that caused the extractor to ignore the destination.

iirc, Unwad ruined images, turning them into some dark gray mess of ugly and sin.

Lack of palette info, perhaps?

This program is pretty bloody neat, although it doesn't extract UDMF maps correctly. Could this be addressed? :?
