[Sprites] AMC TC stuff

Post by Jblade »

I know some guys here cross post at Duke4.net and check out the Duke community stuff, so you're probably aware of the AMC TC - I lurked these forums for ages and got alot of valuable resources so I thought I'd register and post some of the AMC TC weapons I put together (and some that other team members have worked on) I'm aware that the hands aren't similar to the Doom guy's at all, but I hope somebody gets some usage out of them none the less.

Bear in mind that the weapon code for Duke is a bit less specific than what I know of Doom's, so many of these are animated using a combination of the sprite art and the display code.

AMC TC James' weapon set:

I'll post a few more if you guys like this initial set.

Most of those are fugly modelrips, but they could be a good base if someone wanted to Doomify them.

Fugly indeed but with a little editing these could be very useful and extremely detailed. Some of them would be very unique if I saw them in a wad (the auto shotgun for example).

What confuses me is that why the HELL does that AutoShotgun have a scope, wouldn't the recoil like, push the scope deeply into your eye?

Only if you're hunching your head forward into the scope. There's actually quite a bit of distance between where the back of the scope is and where your head would be to sight through it. And if the weapon is properly shouldered, the recoil should not be quite that bad anyway.

Still seems odds, though I suppose you load slugs into it (or it mysteriously fires slugs when you scope it :P).

First person kick sprites always look painful to me for some reason. Oh well, these are nice guns to start with. :)

For model rips they look pretty good, actually.

Hmm, where did that grenade launcher come from? It's the same one that was used in Zero Tolerance, and I was always curious to know the sprites' origin. All I know is they're from "some Build mod" -- is this it?

I also recognize a HacX sprite, which actually looks reeally good with black gloves. Gives me an idea... :P

[EDIT] Just noticed your avatar. Guess I'm not the only one looking forward to (with cautious optimism) the new Deus Ex. Here's to hoping for the best, eh?

I think it's from Aliens VS Predators 2

The model itself was originally a custom TFC grenade launcher by someone called Lt. Kilgore - itself was based on the AVP2 grenade launcher (but the model itself was made completely from scratch) I ripped it for my mod Imagination World and posted it on the site - a few years back somebody posted about it on DRD so I made a fuller set and posted it there, which I guess is how it came to be used in Zero Tolerance. I used that model for both mods since they both exist in the same 'universe'

Definitly! I think Deus Ex can't be beaten in the writing department but I hope this new one is still excellent :)

Hmm, an interesting history, for sure -- turned out to be a really cool weapon either way, so kudos for making the original sprite :)

I do admit I'm a bit wary about the lack of Denton (nothing against Jensen -- he might turn out to be just as cool), but at least the prequel-ness of the new game gives the designers a lot more freedom if nothing else. Here's to hoping it's put to good use. :)

I see Rusty's pistol in there, but where's that badass assault rifle Geoffrey made? Come to think of it, whatever happened to the production of this T.C anyway? The thread on Duke4 hasn't been updated in months...

It's still going strong, don't worry - I never got much feedback on Duke4 so I don't have an urge to keep it updated (That and I'm not the type who posts many updates in anycase) I'd say all things considered Episode one is about 75% done (After this release subsequent episodes will be out quicker)
