Re: [Sprite] Cacomental
I didn't say big and fancy, I only meant something to make it different enough to be worth having. If it's just a reskinned caco, there isn't much point.

Re: [Sprite] Cacomental
Maybe the Beastiary has a completely different goal than I'm expecting it to have.
See, it seems to me all people ever do is take the monsters and replace stock monsters with em simply because they do different attacks. I'd like the idea of adding additional monsters that look like they fit in with original monsters, and don't really care if they appear to be clones of existing ones. Even something like a short range flame thrower on a floating demon would be different enough, I'd think, just because it filled a different role than the original. Doom has a distinct lack of short range projectile monsters.

Well, that was one of my ideas... The "mental" thing was kind of a joke. Kind of not at the same time, since the PE is somewhat related to Lost Souls after all...DoomRater wrote:Even something like a short range flame thrower on a floating demon would be different enough, I'd think, just because it filled a different role than the original.
I'd want new monsters that behave slightly different. If they were meant to be "cousins" of a particular beast, they should have similar properties of course. Maybe a little change in Health, speed, etc.
Here's a fun thought: It could randomly spit either a Caco fireball, or a Lost Soul. Brilliant!
Re: [Sprite] Cacomental
This conversation just gave me a thought: I'd like to see a "beta" style Pain Elemental to go with the beta lost soul. I'd imagine it would look like a silver Pain Elemental or Cacodemon.
Re: [Sprite] Cacomental
Well, perhaps that's what this one could do then: sometimes spit an alpha lost soul and sometimes spit a fireball. The fireball that i used for it came from the Doom Alphas anyway.

Beware the Beta Elemental... Wait, that would spit bugs, right?

Re: [Sprite] Cacomental
totally wrong. it wasnt a hitscan at all. it was actually very much like the arch-viles attack, it hurt you instantly without passing through anything, thats why if you play it they wont ever infight or hurt any other monster.Enjay wrote:One thing that I didn't like about the beta psych attack was that it was very obviously just a hitscan attack pretty much like a pistol shot with a different sound. If, however, the sound (possibly with a little warning sound first) could be made to originate at the location of the target rather than the monster firing, then the attack would be "in your head", be a bit more different and make more sense too.
This has given me an idea, I might sprite and decorate this monster, it spits beta lost souls and other stuff
Re: [Sprite] Cacomental
I stand corrected and I look forward to seeing what you come up with too.

THX very much, they´re a really cool addition to the doom monster collection
Re: [Sprite] Cacomental
Can I use these for my monster, the Cackler?

Thanks for posting it wolfman.
Anyone is free to use the sprites (etc) that I did here for whatever purpose they see fit.
