http://files.drdteam.org/ still isn't back yet, and I assume that's coming next?

Is there anywhere else the zdoom builds are being hosted?

Any news when is it going to be back on line again ?
We simply don't want to rely on the commercial file share sites again !!

Mediafire and Dropbox are both good services.

I think that rapidshare is also good for hosting files as you can create two free account types. Free and freedom account and of course the pro ones.
https://rapidshare.com/#buyrapids
There is no drastic limitation in download/upload speed and your files won't be deleted if you use free account and you have logged in the last 90 days. Though, you have only 5 gigabyte storage. If you need unlimited bandwidth, speed and storage space, you would make up your mind for a freedom account. Though, if your files haven't been downloaded the last 30 days, they will be deleted. Otherwise you can buy pro accounts.
So I think rapidshare was a PITA a few years ago, but nowadays it is quite OK and therefore there is no point in depreciating it.

Re: DRD Team File Sharing (Better than Rapidshare!)
I think these two are the primary motivation for most modders not to use Rapidshare. Too many times, a modder posted a mod on Rapidshare and disappeared, thus the link died. That's why we have the "Request Reuploads" thread in Projects, but a handful have actually been lost forever.cocka wrote:your files won't be deleted if you use free account and you have logged in the last 90 days. Well, you might as well have a look at your account once in three months. (the download counter informs you about the popularity of your files) Just start the rapidshare manager. You'll probably upload your stuff there and it's not a big deal to have a look at it sometimes.you have logged in the last 90 days
At mediafire you get 10 GB but you have to split your files into 200 MB pieces. I think it's more annoying than signing in once in three months.

Re: DRD Team File Sharing (Better than Rapidshare!)
I think the point is that some people have uploaded stuff and then left the community, and their rapidshare account, so they don't log in anywhere that we know of and thus their files die. Also, if we are just talking about Doom projects, I don't think a 200MB per file limit is going to be a huge problem.
Speaking of file sizes though, I have noticed recently that a lot of people are uploading WADs to various places without compressing them in a zip or whatever. Remember that there are still people with slow Internet connections and perhaps other considerations like download limits from their ISPs. Compressing files hardly takes any time and not doing so is just inconsiderate IMO.

Re: DRD Team File Sharing (Better than Rapidshare!)
Yeah, but some people are always complaining about decompression. Some of them don't even know for example 7zip format (moreover, don't even use Winrar, 7zip or any other archiver) or how to decompress it.
Another example: Others cannot or aren't willing to download from sendpace because of the site's "communication method". When I send someone a sendspace link, (s)he just clicks on one of the largest DOWNLOAD captions and doesn't even bother about looking at the page carefully and finding out that (s)he should have clicked on "Click here to start download from sendspace".
And then everyone curses me, although they could have had a look at the download page more carefully.
