Re: [Project] Obscure FPS Resources
Ah right. I hadn't noticed that the link to the file was an off-site one. That is indeed the site I was thinking about. ie the one that had been temporarily linked from Doomworld.

Re: [Project] Obscure FPS Resources
I just uploaded the Cybermage resource to the front page. I am using DRDTeam's file upload service to host it, so hopefully the link I posted is semi-permanent. Because no dedicated tool exists to extract data from Cybermage, I was only able to rip the hud weapons and pickup graphics from the game. There is still a wealth of resources, however!
If anyone else wants to upload resources from obscure FPS games, new and old, please do so! If you need a place to host these files, I can use my account at the DRDTeam file service. Keep in mind the file size limit is 30 megs and the total storage I have available is 120 megs.

Add Bodycount and Corridor 7 sounds from previous page to your resources, and make one file

Re: [Project] Obscure FPS Resources
I think they work better as two separate resources since the two games aren't very similar outside of engine and gameplay. Corridor 7 has a scifi aesthetic while OBC is more modern. Some people don't have the fastest connections, either, so it might be better for them to download the two files separately.

Doh! My fail.
Two files, Corridor 7 gfx & sfx, first. Bodycount gfx & sfx, second.

Oh, I see what you're saying! You want me to merge the sound and graphics resources together. I can definitely do that! It will probably be sometime later today.

Re: [Project] Obscure FPS Resources
Hey guys, I need your help! While I would like to extract graphics from a number of obscure FPS games, I don't have access to all of them. If you have one of the games listed below and you are willing to rip their resources, please do!
Here are a few games I would like to see resources from:

I think AEOD has a vast amount of Powerslave sprites, though of course no textures.

If you can track down a copy of the Duke Nukem TC "Platoon" that pretty much is "Nam". The TC was just repackaged into a commercial game. I'm not sure how different they are - not much from what I remember.Snarboo wrote:Nam (aka Napalm) and WWII GI by TNT Team

Re: [Project] Obscure FPS Resources
I think Nam had slightly better graphics, but not by much.
I did have a large Powerslave resource on my old hard drive, but I lost it when it died. In fact, I think Chronoteeth ripped them originally. I might ask him if he still has them.
The problem I have with taking resources from another project is that the originals have been converted to Doom's palette. I'd like to have any resources as they originally appeared.jute wrote:I think AEOD has a vast amount of Powerslave sprites, though of course no textures.

Re: [Project] Obscure FPS Resources
I've been having trouble uploading stuff lately, but I can get all the resources from Nam/WW2GI, and all textures/sprites from Powerslave. I'm not quite keen on how to get the sounds from it, sorry. I've been working on a few "resource packs" like this with a buddy from the Duke Community as well, and we've been compiling them for Blood, Duke3D, and Shadow Warrior so far. We've gone as far as to compare textures and sounds from the betas and sharewares, and have came up with some interesting differences, bits, and pieces.

Re: [Project] Obscure FPS Resources
That's pretty cool. I love comparing differences between different versions of games. I know the Duke 3D beta was vastly different than the finished product, although I don't remember there being beta versions of Shadow Warrior outside of a few scant screenshots.
If you have trouble extracting a specific resource, don't worry about it. In my case, I couldn't figure out how to extract the sounds from Corridor 7 or Body Count, but Spect figured it out. I still need to upload the full resource for both of those games here.

I can extract any data except Adlib samples (hard coded) from some wolf3d engine games. Gfx, sfx, fonts, maps, demos, end screen, palettes.

Re: [Project] Obscure FPS Resources
So do I. Comparing Lame Duke with final version is very interesting. There are few unused enemies that can be ported to DooM. Its a pity that nothing like Lame Shadow Warrior was ever released, it looked quite different - different player sprites, different enemies, different weapons. I think there were at least 2 beta versions with completely different graphics. I would kill to get to these betas, but it seems that all development versions were lost.Snarboo wrote:That's pretty cool. I love comparing differences between different versions of games. Re: [Project] Obscure FPS Resources
Almost every Shareware of Duke3d (and the Beta that was leaked about 3 months before release) has SOMETHING that is different, and at times its minor and/or useless, but some are VERY interesting.
The beta of Shadow Warrior is kind of rare, and it has some leftovers from what you can consider "LameSW". If I remember right, it was a leak from about 7-8~ before the game was released. There are also two betas for Blood, for example. One of them is so old that it was leaked from 3DRealms. (3DR handed the game over to Monolith after working on it for a few months.) Blood is one of the few games that was VERY consistent from its start to finish.
