Here's some stuff I just uploaded for your collection. The sounds from the PC versions of Turok 1 and 2.

http://www.mediafire.com/file/delk13w20 ... _sounds.7z

http://www.mediafire.com/file/fafrwwu3u ... 2_sound.7z

Ogg vorbis.

I'd love to get at these games' textures, but they're packed away in archives that I can't open. Dicking around in HexPlorer but I can't seem to find anything of value...

Edit:

Interesting. Turok 2 has a hires archive. Included with it is a text file that tells the engine what to remap, and the remaps are hex addresses. Perhaps I can poke around with these addresses to get a lead.

Awesome, Ceeb. I wondered a while ago if anyone ripped stuff from either of the Turok games. :D

Some of those are pretty cool, but there also seem to be a lot different/missing from the N64 versions. I may be mistaken though.

Also, I'm not necessarily sure if I can get anything out of these texture packs. All total, there's about 62 MB worth of stuff here. I'm not sure if it would be kosher to just upload these for someone to take a look at though... So can anyone recommend some good all-around ripping programs? I don't believe these have palettes, so it's just a matter of cracking open these archives. As it is, I'm armed with HexPlorer (which Kaiser pointed me to).

I recently stumbled upon an old game I once played. Its called Myth: the Fallen Lords. I almost forgot that it have eight-angled 2D sprites. Even that its a real time strategy and all characters are seen from above the characters are almost perfectly human perspective so it may be used in DooM or better in HeXen or Heretic. But I dont know if there is any way to access the game resources. My brief search for editor didnt ended well. Is anyone willing to look at it?

Yes, Myth has pretty good sprites with proper for Doom perspective. Soulles from Myth II: Soulblighter. Editor for Myth - Tahoe.

So seriously, I'd love to get at Turok 1 and 2's textures but I don't know where to begin.

These are clearly archives of some kind. DAT files, but Turok 2's hires archive is an AGF.

Has anyone tried to rip the sprites from Battlespire?

Battlespire? All I can find on a google search is an Elder Scrolls spinoff. It also appears to have models, not sprites.

Battlespire uses polygons for weapons, but enemies are sprite based.

You can rip textures from the N64 versions using the 1964 emulator, but it can only rips graphics and models that are currently loaded to memory, meaning you have to actually play through the games. Also most of the texture resolutions are kind of low by Doom standards. It may be interesting to know that 1964 works a lot better on Windows XP better than on Vista/7.

Like Daggerfall, it uses sprites created from models. The engine was capable of true 3D, though (it's used for a few minor stuff, plus oh yeah all the architecture is models, too). They didn't go the full model route until Redguard, an action/adventure spinoff that didn't sell much, unfortunately.

Then they started work on Morrowind and quickly ditched their in-house engine to get NetImmerse (now Gamebryo) instead.

That's not the real Battlespire. That's a Morrowind mod that reconstitutes Battlespire.
