Seconded. I've browsed through it myself with XWE and have been able to extract some of the graphics. Unfortunately, most of the HUD sprites, including the weapons, are annoyingly unreadable by the program, and that's what I'd love to have the most. Curse thee, fate!Enjay wrote:A game which I know is readable by some ripping program (either XWE or GFE I forget which) is NecroDome and it has some resources quite suitable for inclusion in a Doom mod or TC. Might be worth looking into.

Any chance for the Accolade's game "Eradicator"? I still have been unable to find the way to rip stuff from it.

Re: [Project] Obscure FPS Resources
Unfortunately, I don't think that Snarboo has any new way of getting resources out of games. He's just prepared to put in the work of extracting the resources that he can with existing tools and packaging them up. I know that doesn't sound like much (just select and export, right?) but with some games it can actually be a very laborious task, depending on how well the extracting program handles the data files in question.

Re: [Project] Obscure FPS Resources
Pretty much what Enjay said. In some cases, I'm willing to use Fraps to rip the hud weapons, as I have with Cybermage and Eradicator. I still need to finish my Eradicator rips. That will probably be the next resource I post.

Re: [Project] Obscure FPS Resources
Unfortunately, the Eradicator rip will have to wait a long time: the hard drive with my Doom project data died and I lost the Eradicator rips with it. Sorry guys.

That's too bad. Sorry to hear about the hard drive failure.

It's not all bad. I'll probably get a new hard drive out of this and I can easily rip the weapons again.

Scroll the mousewheel down a bit -- Captain Ventris has ripped all of the D2 stuff. I can do D1 stuff if wanted though.

Re: [Project] Obscure FPS Resources
Would stuff from commercial Doom addons like Hell to Pay and Perdition Gate qualify as obscure FPS resources?

They're pretty obscure, I'd say. I'd like to see that stuff.

He's being (purposefully?) naive. If you go to the site in question, you can read this:(UPDATE: Somebody appears to have gotten permission to post the full version! See the link above)
This doesn't read as if the guy had obtained permission from the right holders through an official channel. Probably why Mustaine gives a direct link to the file, rather than to the site's frontpage. Plausible deniability and all that. In the extremely unlikely case Atari raises a fuss over it, he could claim he thought they had the permission to do so...Greetings, all. A few hours ago I was browsing the DooMWorld forums and came across one of the occasional requests for the MegaWAD Perdition's Gate. Now, I've been looking for this(along with its companion piece Hell2Pay) for awhile. I thought I had them at one point, but it turns out the D!ZONE Gold disc doesn't really contain the full versions, as I thought it did. After all my searching, I've found the full version of Perdition's Gate for sale exactly once, while Hell2Pay is nowhere to be found. The distributor, Wraith, has been bought out, and Tom Mustaine(an author involved with both productions) hasn't had any luck getting them released into the public domain. With all that in mind, here comes the point of this post.
My long search has finally yielded some fruit. Hidden in a back corner of the internet were both MegaWADs. So without further ado, download the full, unabridged versions of Hell2Pay and Perdition's Gate!

Re: [Project] Obscure FPS Resources
I don't see that article on the linked site. Where is it specifically? I am aware of that article - it was definitely on a site that was linked to, then unlinked, from Doomworld but I don't think it was the site from this thread. The site from this thread seems to actually be Tom Mustaine's site and, although there is an icon for Hell 2 Pay, it doesn't actually lead to a download for it in the way that the Perd Gate one does.

Re: [Project] Obscure FPS Resources
See that "Download Perdition’s Gate FULL version here!" line on Mustaine's site? Copy the address of the link. Then strip from it the path ("wads/perdgate.zip") to keep only the site itself. What I meant by "site frontpage" instead of "direct link to file".
And the version of Hell to Pay they have is the warezed one, without the movie.
