  • Is the resource ENTIRELY my own work?
  • If no to the previous one, do I have permission from the original author?
  • If no to the previous one, did I put a reasonable amount of work into the resource myself, such that the changes are noticeably different from the source that I could take credit for them?
If you answered no to all three, maybe you should consider taking your stuff somewhere other than the Resources forum.

Radix: Beyond the Void might be a worthy candidate for inclusion in Slade3 as it appears to have a level editor:
Spoiler:
Searches for the level editor on Google have turned up dry, so it might be on the install disk itself. I'll need to buy the game to find out. Eradicator may be another candidate as it also had a level editor on the CD.

Aside from anything else, this thread is informing me about a whole bunch of FPSs that I'd never even heard of. Admittedly, some seem utterly awful but, never the less, that doesn't make them uninteresting.

Doesn't Xaser have the editor for Radix on his site?

Alien Trilogy 9MM and Shotgun ripped from PSX version using psxvram.

Pretty basic weapons but a good rip nonetheless. Could still be useful. But are these two the only weapons in the game, or are you going to rip the others later?

Also, could you check Disruptor? It's a PSX game as well.

There are more weapons and I'm going to try to rip all of them and textures, It all really depends on whether I get to the stage which has those graphics. The monsters would take much longer though
because psxvram only shows what was loaded into the memory at the particular time the emulation was running, so if a monster is dead, psxvram would display only the final frame or the last few.
I'll take a look at Disruptor, ripping should work the same way as any other PSX game.

Ah I understand.

As for Disruptor, Cutman did screenshot-rip the weapons and Kaiser ripped the sounds, but do you think you could be able to rip the monsters and/or textures? That'd be awesome since most of them are very good.

http://ionline.vectec.net/RADCAD.zip :)

It's not the easiest thing in the world to use (imagine DEU except you have to assign linedefs to sectors manually and you're limited to a 32-size grid) and it assumes the game is installed in C:\RADIX, but it's somewhat functional (though I'll be damned if I can ever get around to finishing a map with it). There's a texture viewer inside, although ripping them will likely involve screenshotting each one and cropping out the texture. A bit painful, but at least they're all there for the ripping. :)

I still wonder if some brave soul some day would have the guts to decipher the level format and make an improved editor for it. I know Greg MacMartin, one of the original developers of the game, is easily contactable (or at least was last year when I sent him a random bother) and might be able to help with the specs, in case anyone is somehow interested in braving the unknown. :)

I'd do it myself if I had the coding skill. But I'm getting there, slowly..

It might be worth contacting him for the specs, yeah. That way level editing support for Radix could perhaps be added to Slade3. I wonder if the source code is still kicking around and who owns it? Wouldn't mind seeing a port for this game.

I'm working my way through the textures right now, with the monsters it's the same deal as before, so it would take longer but it isn't impossible, so I might try to do them at the end.

After some dawdling, here is the Rex Blade resource:
Rex Blade (aka Domination) Resource

The resources were taken from a version of Rex Blade known as Domination. As far as I know, this is simply a rebranded re-release of the original game. The resources aren't great, and I meant to crop and clean up the rest of the resources but laziness set in. Anyway, enjoy!

Ah awesome! Keep in mind however, that each level mostly has its own set of monsters and textures so fo example you're not going to encounter in map03 the enemies you saw in map02. The game however is pretty enjoyable.

Keep up the good job!

They're not awful... Some are nice actually. Even then, it's still good to have more resources even if they aren't great

Just so you know, I'm sure I missed one or two frames of my disrupter rip (and I completely missed the melee weapon) so a full sprite rip from the rom of the weapons would be much ha-ppreciated.

Hm. The "Huge FPS Resource" that Snarboo posted a few pages back is down. :(
