Re: Phocas Island 2.5
Well I never though of such "extremely hot" areas could be be on the island. But it looks interesting.
Anyway, if you won't publish your updated version of the WAD, for me will remain always the masterpiece. No one has been able to recreate such interesting grooves in a doom WAD. Do you have any more screenshots about the new areas you're building up?

Spoiler images of the new map/easter egg. The easter egg wasn't planned. I just happened to be stoned off my ass and did it to entertain my friend who was watching me map.

Re: Phocas Island 2.5
As I said, I've been going through the maps and adding more details to them. Some things I add are new paths to connect areas. An example is in height where the beach had only two ways to access it; creating a large linear circle path. I have just added a third way to the beach. It's a bit of a jumping puzzle, but I want it to be hard to escape to higher ground after you wake up the wyvern.
Spoiler:Still a wip.

I think you should add secrets. Other than secret places that someone needs to go to.

If I remember correctly it already was! The amount of times that thing took me down...chopkinsca wrote:but I want it to be hard to escape to higher ground after you wake up the wyvern.

There are a few of these, with quite a few more 'easter eggs' added. I still have the boatshow to do. No idea where I'm going to put that.Killar wrote:I think you should add secrets. Other than secret places that someone needs to go to.

Re: Phocas Island 2.5
I played this wad two times already. Other people probably played it more. I liked the inventory system. And how the journal mode uses the same keys as the inventory to scroll up and down.
I also have an idea for a feature, a progress check system that only works on the hardest difficulty.

What do you mean exactly? I plan on adding a "percent complete" stat. I have to go through all the events and figure out how much each one is worth first.Killar wrote:I also have an idea for a feature, a progress check system that only works on the hardest difficulty.
I'm glad you enjoyed my island.

Re: Phocas Island 2.5
Not much progress as I haven't been motivated to work on this. I may be getting my motivation back though. I just quit playing WoW, so I have more time to fill instead of clicking and pressing buttons to make numbers bigger.
I did make one notable change. The bosses now have a health meter. One thing I found while testing was that it's hard to tell if you are damaging some bosses.
The following is a video of the new and completely optional map. Don't watch it if you don't want to spoil it for yourself. I was playing during the day and because of the sun, I had to turn my gamma up. I didn't realize this until I saw the uploaded video. Expect things to be a bit darker than they appear. Don't mind the double health display. Also note that this is not finished.

What the hell? Is that log machine-gun thing supposed to be a joke weapon or some kind of placeholder graphic?

The log machine gun has always been there, and is very, very serious.

Re: Phocas Island 2.5 (optional map gameplay video on page 2
Looks more like classic doom "run n' gun" gameplay instead of the "puzzle heavy with sparse monsters" gameplay that is present in Your previous installment of Phocas Island. Not that it's a bad thing, just don't seem very Phocas Islandy.

Re: Phocas Island 2.5 (optional map gameplay video on page 2
Well, that's the optional map, so I assume it's more action packed than the main game, which keeps the heart of the original Phocas 2.
Also, my crazy, journal-based story and 12 endings are still in there, right?
