Doom64 - ArchVile, Chaingunner, Revenant
I wonder what these monsters would have looked like if they were included in Doom64, I know that they were cut out for cartridge space so they must have existed in concept sketches or something at some time, any ideas?

Re: Doom64 - ArchVile, Chaingunner, Revenant
I am curious to see what the Archvile and Revenant looks like in Doom 64. As for the Chaingunguy, I highly doubt it looks different from the Zombieman and the Shotgunguy. The Zombieman and the Shotgunguy both looked the same, so I'm assuming that the Chaingunguy looks like them.

let's not forget old Spidey Mastermind was cut too.

Email who? ID Software? They would own the material right? Do you think they'd just have it lying around somewhere?Unknown_Assassin wrote:Perhaps you could e-mail them?

that would be quite fortunate.
but who knows if the monsters even got into concept stage?

Another thing we don't even have a clue of what the Arch-Vile would have sound like in the PSX version of Doom either.
Re: Doom64 - ArchVile, Chaingunner, Revenant
I can't remember where I read about it, but I do remember reading something about them being cut because there wasn't enough room on the cart. Of course they didn't necessarily have to exist before that in sprite/sound form, maybe just as placeholders with the behavior already injected in...but it kinda makes you hope that they did at one point.NewTiberian wrote:that would be quite fortunate.

Anyways the D64 sprites have a resemblance to 3D models screen captured and turned into sprites...so if someone could possibly emulate a model of those monsters based off the original monsters but with a D64 theme to them, I bet you could get pretty close to what they would probably look like in D64 if they were actually in the original game. Someone should try that one day

Chaingunner: TWO chainguns!
Mastermind: TWO superchainguns!
Revenant: FOUR cannons!
Got your D64 theme for you.

Or just make him fire the two cannons that he already has but only manages to get one fireball coming out of them despite them both flashing.XutaWoo wrote:Revenant: FOUR cannons!

Re: Doom64 - ArchVile, Chaingunner, Revenant
I edited the revenant that way once with DECORATE. Fixed it so it would actually fire two shots at once, as it looks like it should. But it sure made for a hell of a time when fighting a group of them...Enjay wrote:Or just make him fire the two cannons that he already has but only manages to get one fireball coming out of them despite them both flashing.

I think iD software and MIdway share the material right. Possibly you could e-mail the lead artist: Sukru Gilman, or any Doom 64 artists. If not, then possibly John Carmack or John Romero?Slasher wrote:Email who? ID Software? They would own the material right? I remember a wad file that made the revenant fire two fireballs instead of one, but I can't recall the name.Slasher wrote:I edited the revenant that way once with DECORATE. Heh, and I went for the other option. I once edited the sprites to make him only have one launcher.Slasher wrote:Enjay wrote:I edited the revenant that way once with DECORATE. Re: Doom64 - ArchVile, Chaingunner, Revenant
What I wanna see is sprites of the revenent without armor. Instead of having armor I'd like to see just the bare bones skeleton. (yes, bad pun)

Halve the damage for both fireballs.Slasher wrote:I edited the revenant that way once with DECORATE. Fixed it so it would actually fire two shots at once, as it looks like it should. Re: Doom64 - ArchVile, Chaingunner, Revenant
That could work. I didn't think of that. I don't have that mod anymore, but it wouldn't be hard to make if I ever wanted to again.Cutmanmike wrote:Halve the damage for both fireballs.
