Avatar size question
Avatar size question
Any chance this forum could bump up the limits to 96x96 instead of 80? It won't really be that much of a difference but would fit standard sizes a bit more (like MSN avatars) so avatars that I design don't have to be redone to look properly on one forum out of half a dozen that I use. >.>
Would this be too difficult to change? Just 16 pixels is all I ask. >.>

Re: Avatar size question
I asked for a very subtle change, nothing that would affect anything negatively whatsoever. I can generally use a 96x96 avatar anywhere else, so why not here too?
I design my own avatars, sometimes with effects that are a pain in the ass to adapt to another size properly. I go by 96x96, which is a standard for many things (Various IM clients, many modern forums, etc work fine with 96x96 images). Having this one oneball one out forcing me to spend time editing my avatar so it won't look like utter garbage on one forum whose only 16 pixels down from what I use is frustrating. My previous avatar with the scanlines was not exactly simple to resize and still have it look right.

Re: Avatar size question
Why not just another four pixels above that, for 100x100? Don't change the filesize limits though. A good majority of my avatar collection is in 100x100 proportions, and as has been mentioned, it's not going to affect the forum layout at all.
Re: Avatar size question
140x80 or so would be better IMO. Extending the height will look stupider with one-line posts when the poster has a max height avatar and a long title and location.
Also,

Durr. Add the scanlines AFTER resizing it kthx.Lazureus wrote:My previous avatar with the scanlines was not exactly simple to resize and still have it look right.
Re: Avatar size question
80 is a very unstandard, and obscure size limit. 96 or 100 is just fine, and no one complains about one-line posts on other forums with avatars bigger than 80, so I don't know why people would do it here.
Oh, and the scanline avatar I had was designed before I signed up on this forum.

Re: Avatar size question
I wouldn't count on it happening. Pretty soon it will be asked to have it expanded again, and again, etc.
I really see no problems with 80x80. The post should grab the person's attention -- not the large obnoxious avatar.
No wonder why DoomWorld's limit is even lower.

Re: Avatar size question
So... What's wrong with 80x80? It's just an simple avatar, not a family portrait or an anime movie or whatever.
Re: Avatar size question
Lazureus, why do your avatars always portray underage girls? No matter which forum I see you on, your avatars always have something to do with little girls...
Re: Avatar size question
No need to fix what isn't broken, I'd say.
80x80 is fine. Every website I frequent that has avatars all have different sizes. Honestly, I think there is no true standard for avatar sizes. Just about everywhere I've gone, I've seen avatar size ranges all over the map.

Re: Avatar size question
There's nothing wrong with my avatars being what they are. This avatar (and the blue one before it) are of Adair Tishler, who plays one of my favorite characters on the show Heroes. I usually use children in my avatars because it's so adorable!
As well, they have the most vibrant expressions and the most fun to work with in my graphics designing. The closest people to me in real life are children, too. I care a lot about them and they're the only good thing in my crappy life.
I always wanted to get married and have kids, but I'm not exactly very lucky in finding a significant other that doesn't cheat on me
. Happy now?

Re: Avatar size question
Man, you tripping. I was just asking. Pictures of children on the internet have always been an issue and I was just concerned and all that...
Yeah, kids are adorable though... if they don't start messing the whole place up!

But I do think an increase to a standard 100x100 avatar limit would be nice.
We don't even use the whole width of the right column, so it's not like it will stretch the page or anything.
