Hey awesome people! Man I've spent years lurking on these forums but never really had a reason to actually create an account until recently when I decided to start working on a major overhaul that I knew I'd need to reach out to a few people to get asset permissions for use in. Unfortunately I still can't even do that because of the way new accounts are restricted on here, but also because I'm new, if I accidentally do anything stupid or incorrectly in my posting please just let me know.
BUT ANYWAY... I actually have a sprite sheet to contribute here, which I'm super stoked about.

This started out as a frankensprite that was just supposed to be a simple merging of two different flamethrowers:
- the one MidoriMan made in 2015 from unused mysterious sprites that John Romero posted the previous year
and
- the Obituary one from The Innocent Crew from way back in...... 1996 I think?

And I think the pickup sprite includes elements made by either one of two different people, or one person who has gone by two different names (Ravage and Skelegant).

But two days of futzing with it later, I'd say it has practically become its own new thing, so I figured that warranted posting here in case anyone wants to play with it.

I'm not Ravage and I'm pretty sure none of that pickup sprite is mine but that's a cool take on that old flamethrower design :D the flame animation looks like it'd help sell the whole flamethrower thing better than just using a regular gunflash sprite

Pickup looks like a mashup between the Duke 3D scuba gear and the rocket launcher from Freedoom? But tracing sprite ancestry can indeed be tricky sometimes, especially if the author spent time on covering up the seams with their own work.

Looks good, though. Agree that flamethrowers should flicker instead of just a flat flash.

Ah sorry for getting the names/people confused. There were 3 different people editing that weapon at the time and one of the posts had broken image links so it was a little hard to keep track of what was going on. Thank you though! There was a moment where after I had spent forever getting the flames inside to look awesome and the light coming out around the vents to hit the right balance, I looked at it and thought "well this is fucking stupid... the pilot light is out in front of the barrel, so flames should only exist from the pilot light forward, not behind it inside the barrel like this." - but then I rationalized it by saying "fuck it. it's the future. they developed some weird type of flame thrower where the pilot light ignites flames inside the barrel that then are propelled forward. sure why not."

Yeah I'm just glad it can't be mistaken for a plasma rifle. And thanks. :)

Well thank you sir.

If anyone wants to play with it as a fully functional weapon I made this stand-alone wad that gives you a 50% chance of it spawning anywhere a plasma rifle would.

You know, this sprite might work for Duke 3D as well!

Has anyone made new armor pickup sprites based off the Eternal armor yet? I've searched around and cannot find any, which was really surprising. So I just went ahead and created some.

Hey! These are great, but i could give a bit of feedback:
- You could try making their shape a bit more like the Vanilla DOOM armor sprites.
- They somewhat lack symmetry, you could try making both sides of each armor identical and add the detail.

Thanks! It's actually really ironic that you mention the lack of symmetry. I have OCD and am notorious for always wanting everything to my symmetrical. With my last few projects I've actually forced myself to step out of my comfort zone to have them not my symmetrical. XD
