Really loving that stock smacking animation. Certainly has good wooden texture.

thanks J. the buttstocks neowom's base sprite.Captain J wrote:Really loving that stock smacking animation. Certainly has good wooden texture.
It makes no sense really as there's no hands on it when swinging but I like it nonetheless.
all I did was carefully rotate and overlay the tiled wood texture somewhat.
10pts to anyone who recognises where the wood texture is from originally.
hint. its a floor/wall texture from an fps of the 90's...

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
today I had a second go at the "slayer's legacy" rocketlauncher...

I think its even better than before now.
a fair mix of doom doom64 and doom2016's rls...
I feel that the use of more classic details makes it fit in better with the other "slayer's legacy" weapons I did...

Your sprites look very fitting for a mod like MetaDoom. Could you do the chaingun or plasma rifle next?

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
well the mod I'm making this "slayer's Legacy" add-on for https://www.moddb.com/mods/osjcs-doom-major-crisis already uses this plasmagun:

based on that one frame that dimoshunter made (was called plasma actual I believe?)
So I figured that does not need remaking again as this pg kinda already does what the rest of the "slayer's legacy" pack is doing. and quite well...
But, I have done this:

and the chaingun is a tricky one.
again, at present majorcrisis uses this:
eriances doom-movie style one and that also pretty much hits the brief of the mix of doom styles with the classic colourscheme to keep it retro...
However I'd like this one in the SL pack just for variety:

but VriskaSerket hasn't made any more frames for it and doing the spin anim (smooth or otherwise) is well beyond my skillset.
If anyone can then I'd be eternally grateful

Good and impressive work as always. And that hand sprite looks certainly new!

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
I got bored one day, and decided to make sprites based on animals. Might sound furry, but I have a backstory for it: Basically they were an experiment funded by the UAC to implement animal cells on humans to have the strength and skill of them with man intelligence, fortunately, nothing hell related happened and the infants were raised to adulthood where they now are working on the UAC and fighting against the demon invasion.

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
Around a year or two ago, I tried making cleaner, non-mirrored marine rotations for the 9 vanilla weapons, using MarineSkinsV7 and Metal_Spaghetti's armless spritesheet as a base.
I quickly realized that there were hundreds of sprites waiting to be done, and more importantly, that I lacked the artistic ability to make them look good. I started again a few weeks back on a smaller scale.
Transplanting and touching up Mark Quinn's work was easy enough, but some rotations have obvious gaps between shoulder pads and arms, since standard armor is used instead of the baron torso, and making them connect naturally is a tad above me. The pain frames were specifically troubling. Speaking of which,
The idea is that each sprite is a layered .pdn file, so certain aspects can be removed depending on what people prefer. These aren't final, as there's still some shading oddities, missing elbow guards, and I haven't decided if using the baron's mirroring scheme would be better looking.
Long story short, I doubt I'll get every weapon done to a satisfying degree, but finishing this set would be a start.

I hope you don't mind if I nab some pixels from this, the G frames were basically what I envisioned but couldn't actually make.Skelegant wrote:Also here's that shirtless doomguy I mentioned a few pages ago

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
Excellent work! Here's some bloodless death sprites I made a while back, I'm sure this has been done a ton already but there might be one or two sprites you could use

Not sure if this is common knowledge or not but if you're fixing up a large area of one color like armor or flesh it can help to monochrome it, work in mono then palettize the layer in slade and slap it back on the sprite and tweak it one more time just to make sure it's lookin right

I rly may have a use for this in my zombie themed maps.Skelegant wrote:OJSC those weapons are excellent, I love the wood grain effect you added to the shotty's stock
Also here's that shirtless doomguy I mentioned a few pages ago, I figured rather than just being like "boy howdy i wish this was a thing" I may as well just make it myself lol

BTW, it is good to see you guys putting credits in the sprite sheets. Sometimes it is hard to tell who made some sprites I've saved in my computer a decade ago...

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
Finally this looks so much normal. The back of him looked like he wore some kind of tight t shirt or something, since he used baron torso as a base. Kudos for the improvement!DELUXE wrote:The idea is that each sprite is a layered .pdn file, so certain aspects can be removed depending on what people prefer.
