got some concept sprites done. what do ya think? ill work on the rest of the sprite sheet dw it will take some time tho. got three versions. gladius, gladius with scutum and scutum with pilum. once i get these doen they will be great for a ancient tomb or hell based map

I think you should use some more brush with smooth function on. have a look at the face of your legionaries, they have only few pixels, but due to the shading, human eye see there eyes, nose. Same with knee caps.

Square pixel shape looks immediately bad for human eye, like the belt , umbo, shield colors, helmet, this abdominal plate (?), look at the waist line its a straight line from both sides, or the spear.

I think you are dedicated, and you could draw some quality stuff after initial practice in no time. Dont be afraid to alter the original pictures.

And they look amazing. It's been a while since anyone has come up with a quality new full sprite set that could fit seamlessly into Doom and sit alongside the regular bestiary as a valuable addition. Their creepy, tortured appearance is perfect. I suspect we will start seeing this in quite a few mods. Excellent job.

They are indeed quite intimidating in a bunch even though a couple of slaps with the fist'll sort em out! Made them a little quicker than the zombiemen and shotgunguys to account for the fact they are melee only...



As you can see I've designed them to kinda match the doom2 hanging bodies. I prefer my melee zombies generic so you can use them in any mapset/theme and they will not look out of place.
ehh.. I complete steel works map without the monsters.pk3 and was wondering where the possessed are hidden :lol:
Possessed looks dope. His punch attack however looks strange, with his nice straight boxing technique.

Im astonish by the amount of death type for each monster. Nice. There is soo many trooper reactions to an attack that it feels "chaotic" - not sure what I mean by that. I check pk3 in slade and amount of GRP is massive! Even if you just select and implement them its enormous work.

edit:
possesses contain 209 sprites?!! thats insane ! I dont have so many fingers. heretic Minotaur have 110 and I was thought its a lot.

Started work on a Doom-style humanoid template, with the goal of making model renders that match vanilla Doom's art style. :D
