Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
Ao Oni was a japanese rpgmaker game involving a bunch o' kids getting picked off one by one by a big blue lump of plasticine with a stroked out lookin face.
Those sprites look far more horrifying, although the one on the right does look a little like a Second Life avatar (it'd probably work best in a dark environment)

Sometimes you want to take your creation out of computer, slap it in the face and say "At least try to act scary"

Eyes are too big, baby like. Evil eyes are small.

I am trying to be faithful to original design and it has big eyes and big head.doomjedi wrote:Eyes are too big, baby like. Evil eyes are small.

Sometimes, evil eyes are pretty big without looking cute.

Yes, in a way...But at the very least - make the pupils small and white area larger. Big pupils are cute.
(unless enemy resolution allows to add scary internal details to the pupil itself to make it scary and non-human-looking)
But I don't think in this particular design/body proportions - it'll solely solve the scary issue.
He has "human-type" body design, and big eyes on those will look too cute anyway.
In disformed big monster, big eyes can look scary (again, keeping pupils small). But human bodytype...don't think so.

Big eyes can be spooky if they're made to look like those of a dead fish.

Mike Mignola can teach you a thing or two about creepy eyes:
In my opinion its all about contrast. Big black eyes are cute if there's just the right amount of shine. Otherwise they can be creepy:
In kirby's case he's brightly colored, against big black eyes. Enough contrast and you get some creepy effects. Hence why when mignola draws his characters with bright eyes, he adds dark shadows around them, the bigger, and brighter the eyes the bigger and darker the shadows. Lose the contrast, lose the creepy. This is all subjective, of course, but that's my opinion.

From the selection, I like these ones the best:
In order from favourite on left to least favourite (but still liked) on the right.

Ao oni, huh? Nice stuff.
Have some Bunker 3D weapon edits.
Now I don't really know who originally did the Atari Wolf pistol edit... But I've seen it so many times. Maybe osjc if I remember correctly?
Please tell me if I'm wrong.
