Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
Does this count as a sprite? A very, very early WIP of an immersive visor hud I'm working on. The idea is to have a Starcraft-style plastic frame with bright Pipboy-style CRT bubbles displaying your important info. Kind of like the Alien movies. Custom graphics are very, very new territory for me so any pointers would be appreciated.

I like a lot of what i see! Maybe you could give a look at games like armored core. If i am not mistaken it has some cool huds.

Reminds me a lot of the Final Doom cover. Was it one of your inspirations? Looks nice anyway.

I don't know, i don't see any problem right now. Except it looks kinda blurry.
When i saw this first time, i thought taken it from the final doom cover and edited it... But i was wrong! I definitely can see the inspiration going on on that HUD. Also looks powerful, too.Gifty wrote:Does this count as a sprite? A very, very early WIP of an immersive visor hud I'm working on. Yeah, it was partly frankensprited from the PSX Doom title screen. The rest is digitized images of computer cases.jdredalert wrote:Reminds me a lot of the Final Doom cover. Was it one of your inspirations? Looks nice anyway.

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
Might as well submit my first post.
I was working on this for my friend, he wants most of the demons to look similar to the Imp so I've been doing a Pinky mixed with a Imp. I haven't sprited in like, a year or two (I'm mainly a texture artist now), so this has been a bit of a learning experience again. What you guys think so far, I wanted to try to stop myself from frankenspriting it as a goal to get better.
Also the fact that the Imp's sprites are so off in each rotation pisses me off to no extent and I have to fix that as well because of my need for everything to look right.

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
I am bearing in mind that it is very early and a lot can change but at the moment it looks as if it takes up too much screen space to me. When it comes down to it, seeing what happens in the game window is the most important thing and the information provided by the HUD merely helps you play in that environment. If the HUD is too big, it gets in the way of playing.Gifty wrote:A very, very early WIP of an immersive visor hud I'm working on.

The hybrid looks good. I'd want to suggest making it a bit hunchbacked though, to give it a more distinctive silhouette in profile.Sgt.headcrab wrote:Might as well submit my first post.

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
Agreed. It looks good but side-on and even more so from the rear views it could just be a recoloured imp.

That's all the 4 and 5 angles are so far; I presume they're just not finished. On the 1, 2, 3 angles you can see the monster has increased bulk in its shoulders, horns on the head, no spikes on the body, and the demon's birdfeet.

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
That looks very nice, I could go for a mod where most of the demons are imp sized.
