Good to see those again. In fact, that reminds me of something i started a while ago and never finished:
These are all very good sprites, but it begs the question: how would one go about changing the mug and arm sprites to match the damage without resorting to excessive spaghetti code for each time more out skin is destroyed. :D
Ah, that's pretty cool. I've been thinking of taking your suggestion and redoing the old mod, after I finish up gunslinger.
I'm actually trying to make a mod myself, involving playing as an 80's style evil Infiltrator Terminator (Seriously sick of the hero Arnold type). Brutal Doom actually depicts evil characteristics in the player's overall demeaner, so I might opt for trying to update my sprites and putting them in Brutal Doom to make Brutal Terminator.

IIRC, Duke Nukem 3D was going to have something of that sort. It later became the freezethrower. (Which is more or less like the Shrinker in utility, and woefully underwhelming.)

so I've done some work on the old bfg.
The intent being to sex it up a bit for my oldskool mod. but keep it as original as I can whilst still adding some awesemity!
transformation seemed the obvious choice
It now has an opening core. and refilling on-board plasma-flasks. also includes new recoil frames and improved muzzleflashes that may be of interest too.
its obviously better in action than static so go check it out in my mod to see what I mean...http://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f= ... 14#p667382
credits to eriance for the bfg plasma core and cage for the angled d64 plasmagun that I knicked the core off of for my plasma flasks...

no. actually it comes up into frame as usual, then the plasma flasks expose themselves.
firing the weapon closes the plasma flasks (for protection), as then, the core exposes (to prevent overheating/oververloading when charging) then shuts again as the weapon releases the bfg ball, then the weapon recoils as it fires, then the flasks, now empty, expose themselves and refill... just felt that all this transfiguration and funky animations make it look more high-techy and less of a fridge/freezer with a muzzle. yet keeping it classic...

thanks 8-) looking forward to seeing your stuff...

I'm currently deciding whether or not to do a mix up of the doom64 unmaker and eriances doommovie bfg, you know, replace the centre portion of the unmaker with the plasmachamber from the Olduvai-bfg but recoloured to red... I'll see how I get on if I can even be bothered to at all...

*edit*
here:
um sketch.png
is a rough frankensprite sketch to show what I mean for now... worth pursuing though? still not sure... I guess It would be nice for the unmaker in my mod to be a little different from the unmaker in nevander's doom64 weapon mod... I guess I'll have to see how it looks after some more work...

That grey part should be fleshy/gore colored, and it should open up to release a big ol' demonic blast.

Tried to make the boom mod from Doom 4 on the vanilla shotgun.

Absolutely
keep going with that! I might also give it a shot and see what I can come up with. Ive been trying for ever to make a doomified version of that weapon and that design gives me some ideas.
