These could work as new Cacodemon fireballsRSSwizard wrote:Saw this on a screenshot somewhere for arachnotron plasma. Its the crossbow shot from heretic. So I made a recolor from scratch. Paletted.
Would make a nice special-magic-attack

I might recolor these and use them for that sfx-light version of X-Weapon/Helsturm that I promised I'd make forever ago - in normal fire colors, this'd make a great Demontech projectile.IMX wrote:These could work as new Cacodemon fireballsRSSwizard wrote:Saw this on a screenshot somewhere for arachnotron plasma. Wait, CRAP. my mistake, i was meant to say the recoil frame! you know, the frame that when you stop firing the plasma rifle?RSSwizard wrote:No the initial frame is the idle frame. Think of it as a vacuum sealed tube color treated to mitigate and re-absorb bleed off radiation. So its like a red colored glass pipe. Just a laser, not a plasma gun.Captain J wrote: Idle frames?

Have you tried making HUD sprites of any of these? They'd look really cool in wolf3d scaleThe Thing Thing wrote:Holy Crap, It has been a while since i posted anything sprite related to this forum, so i thought i'd remedy this by posting a metric crapton of sprites that I had made.

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
Not really, I don't really have any intention on making any First-Person Weapon Use sprites for these, and to be honest my intention is for these to be used with a doom mod, I'd admit they are small "that is why i upload a X2 Version for Doom Mod use so people can see the pickup sprite" the reason for the small weapon sprite size is because I am using this for a little non-doom related project.mazmon wrote:Have you tried making HUD sprites of any of these? Also these sprites can be used with the player sprites here as well.

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
Actually I think the hands are okay, its just the skin tones in general need more shading, need to be darker. I noticed the faces stick out like minecraft, kinda flat. But I guess this extends to the hands as well.Murix wrote:I think it looks really damn good, the only problem is how HD it is. Compared to every other gun I can think of it would feel out of place to use it with anything else. I'd need some more guns in a similar style to make it feel like it belonged.enderkevin13 wrote:So what does everyone think of the Thundergun sprites?
*edit: yeah and what Carbine Dioxide said about the hands, but I just feel like the actual skin is just a bit off.*

Have you considered making weapons for Starbound? Your sprites are exactly the right size and style for it, and you've got a literal assload of them. The Thing Thing wrote:Holy Crap, It has been a while since i posted anything sprite related to this forum, so i thought i'd remedy this by posting a metric crapton of sprites that I had made.

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
Im sure this has been done before, but its a blue BFG blast, just the ball nothing else. The contrast was turned up to bring out the brighter colors against the darker for Additive translucency (which is why the scissors-cutout appearance probably wouldn't matter, this is to prevent a ghostly square frame).
They are 2x size so would work best with Scale 0.35 to 0.5. The two on the right are palette friendly (ahem btsx) with some dithering for sharpness but can be left truecolor if thats your thing.
Would also do real nice as plasma gun projectiles with even smaller scale.

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
I could have made the dark color transition go to maroon instead but I liked the idea of blue. Besides fireballs need to be additive translucent and dark colors virtually disappear with that. There are 3 color bands in that projectile, as the bright color transition goes to the lighter orange/yellow/red.TheRailgunner wrote:I might recolor these and use them for that sfx-light version of X-Weapon/Helsturm that I promised I'd make forever ago - in normal fire colors, this'd make a great Demontech projectile.IMX wrote:These could work as new Cacodemon fireballsRSSwizard wrote:Saw this on a screenshot somewhere for arachnotron plasma. One other thing I forgot to mention, I did modify them a little bit, the 2/8 and 4/6 frames were shortened a little bit to make them look like they're coming/going from the viewer more acutely. I do this with ALL of my projectiles now.
I noticed through playing the game that the usual A2A8 or A4A6 type frames for things, while properly drawn geometrically, they still dont seem to have the proper appearance of coming at or going away from the character. Like you can see the front of the projectile but it still looks long enough that the transition between MISLA2 and MISLA1 is a pretty big jump.
I wouldnt say the close angle that Duke3D has is sufficient (just 30 degrees) but something inbetween the apparent 45 and 30 degrees... like 35 degrees looks more visually appealing.
I noticed that its less noticeable for the visual transition from A2 to A3 (perpendicular movement) because whenever the switch happens from diagonal frames to horizontal frames the projectile is usually moving too fast for the player to notice it much (typically because they're strafing).
The transition between oncoming and diagonal is much more frequently seen.
In English:
I think its better to make the intermediate frames for projectiles look like they're moving to or from the player a little more acutely, rather than simply "halfway between horizontal and oncoming". To avoid the big jump visually between sideways movement and oncoming movement.

Some of these would be a good base for "hellish pods" sprites!Kagur wrote:Some weapons I designed using parts from the Baphometh sprite.
