@Icytux: Just thought I'd let you know that the Hellfire Soul and the Surreal Demon have the same pic on the first post

Ok, I blurred some rough edges with the Gimp and added some nails, it's very unlikely I'll make a complete set, that one graphic alone took me a long time to do.

Ok just to answer everybody's question my marine has his hand behind his legs because when I put his hand in front it looked weird. But the arm will probably move in motion.

Seconded...
Just try to make some shading around the eye; you can refer to the Stone Imp and Stone Demon for some ideas...

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
I was actually using the stone demon and stone imp as a reference when I made him. I basically just did what the stone demon did and colored his eye completely black. I guess because his eye is larger than the other two, it makes it look kinda strange. I will try to fix that and put up a new version.

Also, the Stone imp and Stone Demon aren't just color conversions. The details on them were altered to seem more statue-like, less defined perhaps.Dreadopp wrote:I was actually using the stone demon and stone imp as a reference when I made him. Well, I did remove most of the horns as well. I am going to try removing the other two main horns to see if it looks better.Captain Ventris wrote:Also, the Stone imp and Stone Demon aren't just color conversions. The details on them were altered to seem more statue-like, less defined perhaps.

I was wondering, since we're all doing this spriting stuff, does anyone want to redo/repaint the hanging bodies (and subsequently wall textures) from Doom 1 to make them less . . . crappy? I've never been happy with them. Mostly because they didn't seem like anything else in Doom, with their very weird clothes and crappy skin tone.

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
I am in agreement with you. The corpses from Doom 1, indeed, look out of place. Though, I don't think I will be able to redo those sprites because I am not very good with sprite editingGrimm wrote:I was wondering, since we're all doing this spriting stuff, does anyone want to redo/repaint the hanging bodies (and subsequently wall textures) from Doom 1 to make them less . . . crappy? Hehe . . . one must have confidence. Just give it a shot, they're mostly one frame--it doesn't get any easier than that. It's the perfect task to practice on and increase your skills with.
The only comment I have to make is that I don't quite think they should look like the zombies in game. I think the point is that they were supposed to be average joes, ie, not zombies. However that is to be interpreted is up to the artist . . .

Yeah, I've never used those hanging guys in my maps except for in my Quake3-eque ctf map, they just look out of place otherwise

I made this in my spare time and also to keep the topic going. This is Jamie Hyneman from Discovery Channel's hit show Mythbusters.
