Think I'll keep working on this one.

Gonna try making it look more... serious(?).

I actually like the grey rear sight better than the weird blue, Slax. :)

Gave the white wood a slight tan to counteract the gray. Looks alright but the mix is still off due to the pure white splotches on the gun. Shadows are gonna have to be modified to account for the scope.
Gotta find some good looking way to attach the scope as well. Mumble grumble...

Maybe attach it via picatinny rail?

That's the obvious route, sure, but it's supposed to be a futuristic space gun. Probably gonna have to wait until we have a scope to work with. Way outside my expertise anyway.

Depends on what kind of futuristic look is desired, when someone mentions it, i imagine something along the lines of Quake 4 weapons.

I feel like a rail would fit the rear sight. I just don't think a futuristic style on a world war 2 weapon really fits anyway. Maybe you could make the rear sight futuristic too.

It's supposed to be an old rifle in a new futuristic dress, with a bunch of extras. From the pickup sprite it looks like the scope's supposed to be attached to the wood, which makes things tricky. (Real narrow.)
Could of course still change the pickup sprite but that's cheating.

What I'd really like to do is find a good texture for the wood (future synthetic space wood?) and redraw most of the thing. Same shape and details but with a more sleek (and frankly more feasible) design. I mean, WHYYY would someone paint a Garand white and put a bunch of space stuff on it? Them's some screwy logistics.

Perhaps the M0's designer was fond of the greatest battle implement ever devised?

Honestly, the body doesn't have to be wood; I was just too lazy to begin the arduous process of futurizing the material. However, I have my own reasons for the black-and-white color scheme, and am unwilling to part with it. At any rate, I intend to redo the Sinael M1-based sprite using the rotated base you posted. I can relocate the scope further back on the pickup sprite, if it'll make things smoother.

In the spirit of M1 Garand spriting, I made(edited) this derpy thing(I am not saying the base sprite is derpy).

Nice base for the scope, the only problem I think is that the scope on the pick up looks as though is is a little more rounded. Also, how are you planning to load it? I thought The Rail Gunner scrapped the magazine idea...
