Yeah, i just HAD to do it. Also, En Route: Thermoplis will be on hold because i'm making a Megawad, woo!
Please at least credit me for the top sprite. :P I was the one who did that edit.osjclatchford wrote:true...
anyway I tried to make this lash-up I attempted look a bit better: still to no real avail...
Oh, it's even animated.zrrion the insect wrote:I offer this without context:

From the left, Acolyte(Heretic) mixed with Catharsi gun and drawn hands as the Ethereal. Terminator and David G's Rifle Commando as Power suit. Strife guy and former human as Personal Armour. Former Shotgun guy (from one of Weasel's wads) modified as Squaddie/Recruits. Now that I have a program to create sheets out of individual sprites, and thus do not need to make my own, I feel they won't be too hard to make.
Dammit, he's one of our best spriters!Uboa wrote:*dies*The_Funktasm wrote:I'm working on an XCOM themed mod and yesterday I made mockups of how I'm going to do various enemies. I am still on the lookout for a suitable grey alien base, as well as an armed golem.

Wow, that looks great! I could definitely use some help. I'm not sure I have enough for a thread yet, but I think that'd be the best place to post what there is so far. To be honest, I've only been putting solid work into it again since last week or so, and mostly on weapons and armor coding. The player sprites have been a bit daunting to approach for a while, combined with being unsure of what to use.Uboa wrote:I'm flattered.
Funktasm, about your sprites. I really like them, and I hope to see progress. I messed around with Photoshop and made some gradient maps to closely replicate the colors in your ethereal. The images that I used in this sprite are entirely grayscale, colored only by the gradient maps.
Let me know if you need any help, I can try my hand at something.
(Also, that original monster that you used for the ethereal was from Hexen, not Heretic.)
EDIT:
Spoiler:
That'll work great. I really appreciate it. As far as the rest, I sort of need input on ideas first before I settle on anything.Uboa wrote:Wow, I really like that floater sprite. Right now, I'm just about done with the second angle for the ethereal sprites. I'll post what I have when they're done.
EDIT:Here you go. I may work on the rest, depends on how you want them.
Yes, but with the main flash (where the projectile is launched) absent, and only the brightness from it kept. Also, with the glowing in the hood kept instead of the eye-flash. You picked the exact right muzzle-flash color too, awesome!Uboa wrote:Well, I'm working on the shooting frames right now. I'm using a light green muzzle flash, since IIRC that's what was used in the original. Would the "magic" animation from the original Hexen sprites do you any good?
