I love brutalism! Now you're making me want to try my own take on it.

Re: The WIP Thread
I wanted a few maps to take on brutalist architecture, but without the bland colors, in a map contest that I was trying to author (unfortunately, I discovered that I didn't know everything that I wanted in there, or how to correctly portray what I wanted to happen).

The architecture itself somehow looks like a spider. Or maybe walking factory even. Heh.Remmirath wrote:

Having rain play through mostly a single channel at a time is too weird

That's really nice and atmospheric. What music is that in the background? It sounds vaguely familiar.

GZDoom is gonna flip me the bird soon...
It sounds vaguely similar to Perfect Dark's Chicago Stealth track, so that's understandable.Scripten wrote:That's really nice and atmospheric. What music is that in the background? It sounds vaguely familiar.

A couple of those lightning bolts were upside down... XD
Anyway, the map structure combined with the atmosphere and music reminds me of Mechadon's mapping style, and some of the more beautiful maps I've seen in DUMP 2.

throw in a bunch of neon signs, and power lines everywhere and you have the perfect cyberpunk map.

Also, amazing how much SSAO can add depth and detail to otherwise flat scenes

Re: The WIP Thread
Remmirath: these keep getting better and better! Out of curiosity, can you post 2 identical scenes, with and without SSAO? I'm just curious to see what they look like without post processing.
And are you using customized SSAO settings? Those kind of look stronger than GZDoom's defaults.
