Re: WHAT THE HELL are you working on (WIP THREAD not gossip)
A night without Internet access at work has me doing things... things with old, cancelled projects... and maybe getting them (back?) into a releaseable state...
... Just one thing, though, is there some reason why a PK3 cannot be recognized as an IWAD? Do I need a dummy .WAD file just to get a PK3 IWAD (IPK3?) launched?

What version of ZDoom are you using? I can run PK3s as IWADs just fine in 2.6. If you still cannot get it to work, perhaps I could take a look at the file to see why it won't work (if you're willing to share it, that is).Project Dark Fox wrote:... GZDoom SVN based on ZDoom 2.5.0 r3295. That IS 400 revisions ago so I'll try with ZDoom 2.6.0.
... Fascinating. Well, okay then. One less problem.

Glad that it worked for you. Since you brought it up, I wonder what this unspecified cancelled project is. Are you ready to reveal to the public what it is yet, or is that still private information?Project Dark Fox wrote:GZDoom SVN based on ZDoom 2.5.0 r3295. Re: WHAT THE HELL are you working on (WIP THREAD not gossip)
You must be new here.
Before you registered there has been an uncountable amount of drama situations around it, and it even got a (former) lackey banned because he couldn't hold his tongue.
EDIT2: He got banned WELL AFTER he got let go, so we're clear.

Well, somewhat, yes. I've popped in and out of here before over the past year or so, but have never really paid all that much attention to what goes on here. Based on your response (asking if I was new and not naming the project), I assume it's a secret project, correct?Project Dark Fox wrote:You must be new here.

Re: WHAT THE HELL are you working on (WIP THREAD not gossip)
Okay, I've done a bit of research and found out what it is that you were working on. From the video and screenshots on your site, the There's Something About Tails game looked pretty good, shame it was cancelled. I can't say that I knew exactly what was going on drama-wise, but I will say from personal experience in working in the IT industry that it's never a good idea to let drama brew in projects and that problematic people should be put in their place. I've started reading your comic, and while the story looks somewhat like a silly setup, I skipped ahead to the most recent pages and it looks that the story becomes much more detailed and involved, a lot of backstory. I must say I like the new look of the comic over the older sprite based stuff.
As for the topic itself, what I'm working on (Doom mod wise), I just started a small Wolf 3D-style dungeon crawler for Zandronum with inventory management and such to play with a few folks at the office (we all played DnD back in the day a lot

Re: WHAT THE HELL are you working on (WIP THREAD not gossip)
Shhh, be careful mentioning the name of the project too much around here, there's still other folks who are still horrified of the mere concept.
