It does pop out. But the death animation is not done yet. gonna add the blood, and the guts later. About to leave for the doctors right now.

Eriance, can you teach me how to sprite DOOMish style?
I can make a simple Photoshop tutorial, but that's about it.
No Paint tutorial? I'm guessing because of Photoshop's effects and high magnfying glass thing power. I don't find Photoshop to be good at spriting, as Paint is reallly good with pixel-by-pixel editing. Oh well.

Too cool. Did you say it won't fly, though?

Something about the exposed jaw is strangely familiar. Did you base it off of something else?

Seems like the Cacolich's death state from the monster resource wad.

Based on the "Director" from the Beholders of D&D.

Nice work there!
It looks a little cartoony IMO though... I can't tell if it's because of the eye or something else that causes this.

Jaw reminds me of Hydralisk from StarCraft. Looks great!

If anything is cartoony, it's the eye. Doesn't bother me, though, other than maybe being open slightly too wide in the first frame.

That actually give me the impression that it's holding it in there with telekinisis, which adds to the coolness

Here's the finished one. The blood was hard to do in Photoshop, so I did it mostly on MS paint. I might need to correct some errors after i test it in game, but so far, it looks ok. Nothing too spectecular though.

@Vader: As for the Cartooniness, i think it's because i made the eyes too shiny.

@Vicarious: It reminds you of a hydralisk? O_o How so? The jaws maybe?

I don't know if I'd be able to shoot at that without giggling, nice job on the sprites. :)

Cool, I like this a lot. I saw the D&D connection immediately. IMO an improvement would be to have the eye as a totally separate item that gets spawned when the monster dies so that it really can pop out. O-)

I could try that. But that would cause some wierd effect when the monster dies and you strafe around him, the eye would be flying out its ass. XD

I'm still trying to dcide whether or not to make this monster flying? I cant seem to make a floating monster correctly other than raising the sprite's offsets. Would flying be too over powered for a basic troop monster?

This thing has 180 HP and does 4d8 damage on melee, with a 3d8 fireball with a speed of 12. Drops Lightning ammo on death for Ep3.

I say thats it's okay for a basic troop monster to fly just from looking at Lost souls.
