What are "flashes?" They are probably the fault of your video card or something else in your setup.

Are you saying you use an Nvidia card? Because I do, and I don't know what you mean by flashes. Please be specific. Saying it "flashes" is totally vague and useless for me.

hmm, lets see
the colour "inverts" for about half a second
it just happends at random
and one time i opened the menu as it "flashed" and the colour "inverted"
like it does but it stayed that way instead of going away

Try turning on "DirectDraw Palette Hack" in the Display Options menu and then see how things work for you.

Do you have anything, absolutely anything, running in the background that could be grabbing a bit of screen time even momentarily and confusing the issue? It could be a desktop toy, an updater for you clock, anything. The reason I ask is because waaaaay back I had something running (can't even remember what now) that used to mess up things in the way you describe. There was never any on screen evidence that the program concerned had done anything other than the colours in Zdoom went all screwy.

Yeah, that actually reminds me. If I have Winamp running and run ZDoom, sometimes the visualization flashes when I load ZDoom. Not sure if there's anything to do about that though.

Hmm I remember I got blue flashes in ZDoom 47i, and they seemed to disappear after that, but now in 57 I get them again. Could be something else I'm running though, and they are so quick (as in single-frame-at-200+-fps) I don't really mind too much.

ZDoom does this for me when WMP9 changes the song when in taskbar mode and it puts up the little window with the song title and stuff...
