Hideous Destructor 4.10.0b

Projects that have specifically been abandoned or considered "dead" get moved here, so people will quit bumping them. If your project has wound up here and it should not be, contact a moderator to have it moved back to the land of the living.

Shaw Webspace is a dick. :/ Try refreshing the page and downloading again.

Anyway, the new update changes some keybinds (sprinting now uses the run/walk key and reloading uses the I-assume-standardized "+reload") and modified the jumping system to allow mantling and forward leaps.

I don't know what the hell is wrong with Shaw webspace. I can download the updated version just fine in Opera but for some reason Firefox and IE always give me the August 9 version.

Anyway, here is a temporary Crapidshare link until I get this figured out.

EDIT: Well, it's a stupid workaround, but here's a new download url...

Good to know.

this update should work as well.

particulars of the updates are mostly keeping your helpers from killing you and fixing a copypasting error from the 22 December update.

The SVN link on your site points to my thread, which is dead. I stopped doing SVN builds when SoulPriestess started his SVN binaries hosting thing.

I'm surprised myself how similar some elements are to CoD, especially given I've never played any of them yet.

The healing in HD used to be much faster, but I found that you could actually recover a significant amount during a firefight making you almost invincible as long as you tooka enough time between attempts to bust into a room. Now that I think about it, though, given that the enemies regenerate as well and could fully recover during that time just as easily as the player, I could probably speed things up a bit so there's less time wasted just sitting around waiting to recover before entering the next room, without making firefights too easy.

As one concession to playability: The latest version (not yet uploaded) lets you carry eight medikit units with each medikit pickup giving you two. Each use regenerates half as much health (10 instead of 20 - to compare, stimpacks do 20), but stops the same amount of bleeding as before, so you don't have to ration out medikit usage as sparingly and it becomes more a matter of retreating to safety so you could treat your wounds at all. It might be overpowered and I suspect might take away those tense moments where you're using up half your stimpacks to stay alive as the healing kicks in, but I'll tweak it a bit later on.

BraveKnight and I could test this weapons mod next time we're not doing anything. We'll likely use Unidoom 3 or something ridiculous or other for testing.

Edit: Okay, I cannot find anything to pick up and I get warnings when running over where the pickups would be. I'm using a pretty new SVN, and hoping that my SVN is the problem. Except since it's GZDoom r278.... will try those other links you handed out.

If the last modified date is December 22+ and not August 9 you should have a version where pickups show up and don't give warnings.

It is. The effect just isn't very noticeable if you're not specifically looking for it. :P

Well, your main download link is still giving me the august one then. I got it from Rapidshare and that worked okay there... only I'm still annoyed how easily bleeding can kill me.

The main link in the OP or the main link on the Web page? If the latter, refresh the page until you see that the latest update is dated Christmas Day. The proper download link should be /dl/hd.zip not /hd/hd.zip. (I really have no idea why Shaw Webspace is so bad about updating files...)

after starting a game, type hd_nobleedcheat in the console to toggle no bleeding mode.
or you could just play on the easiest difficulty setting. y'know, if you're a wimp. :P
OR you could pray you don't ever get hit.
