First, 199 is not stable. Hubs are broken in it and it doesn't contain the DECORATE expression parser.

Furthermore, this is the first official (non-beta) release since 1.22 (Judging from the way it is handled on the downloads page at least) so sticking to something a little older sounds strange, does it?

And consider the Bugs forum. So far after each new release it was flooded with massive amounts of new reports. But so far we have:

- a minor issue in a project file that's irrelevant to the end user and
- a strange untraceable crash that looks system specific.

I think that's an excellent start for a new version.

Of course I was going to use 2.1. I only siad 199 seems stable because I haven't tried anything newer yet. Geez.

I really like that there are almost no new bug reports. I still can remember the changes to the Bugs forum after 2.0.90... ;)

Well I haven't had my shot at it yet . I'm sure there's something.

There's bound to be something. Hopefully nothing show-stopping though.

This is good news. An official Zdoom release. Is this really the first proper one since 1.22? Wow! Thanks Randy and Graf. Great work. A proper, official benchmark version that people can mod for, base derivative projects off etc. Great news.

Now... when's .64 coming out again? ;)

It's the first that is being distributed in a .zip, not a .cab and the first that isn't buried in a 'lars' directory to browse through. No more 'quick link to the latest build' but instead something official looking. The last version to have this was really 1.22!

WHEEE and ZDL is the official launcher of ZDoom! \o/
I feel so accomplished.

I'm almost motivated to rewrite it again.

It seems that only 1 of 2 quirks for the inf. tall compat flag has been fixed.

Floating monster teleporters (AV26, HR2 map26, DV01) still get the cacos/PEs stuck together.

I suppose that's right enough. The 1.23s were always betas, then there were a few "pre release" version 2s. Eventually describing any of the releases as beta or pre-release kind of went out of fashion as whatever was current became perceived as being as "official" as it was going to get - given that they had all the new features and people were editing for those features, we really got to a point where the last "official" version was extrememly superceeded, yet no "official" replacement had come along. Then, of course, even those releases all but dried up for a long time too. Seven years it is then. Again, Wow!
