Whoever did the SNES version of Wolfenstein 3D
WSJ
did a version of the pickup in the mac quality level of detail and recoloured the hud-weapon to classic cyan : for use with afadoomer's wof 3d mod:

Re: [Wolf3D] PC DOS Style Missile Launcher and Flame Thrower
well as far as I'm concerned you deserve the credit as I'd never have done this if you hadn't inspired me with the above work. I love how the hud and pickup matches what the bosses carry. its the only rl in wolf3d I'm truly happy with now. the original jaguar sprite looked too doomy as it was black (and clearly based off the doom rl anyhow) and the version I did previously based on the snes/mac version looked a little odd as it just didn't fit in. you showed me that cyan was what was missing LOL!
Re: [Wolf3D] PC DOS Style Missile Launcher and Flame Thrower
Thanks, that was actually the hardest part. I had to copy and paste the entire Wolf3D/SOD palette into GIMP and individually color every pixel of the sprites to get the intended colour and shading. The previous version was poorly paletted and looked bad to say the least.
EDIT: The missile launcher looks different in this HD pack. Who made this sprite?

I think Captain J made it.SamVision wrote: EDIT: The missile launcher looks different in this HD pack. Who made this sprite?

doom grade weapon sprites
guess these should go here too:
credits to mac/jaguar wolf3d, doom64(muzzzleflashes) freedoom(chaingun), rott(mp40) and blox (for shiny edits) and myself of course...

Now to import it to Ecwolf (if I only knew how).
I just think the chaingun chould have a bigger muzzleflash and maybe more of the botton part showing (the one you modified on top of FreeDoom's chaingun).
PS: I quickly threw thougether an exemple of what I mean, I'm not very good at this but you get an idea.

You know what kiddo you're right. I had It like that to start with but changed it to show more barrel and now against yours I can see its not as good...thanks I guess...also its true i must make a better muzzle flash... watch this space...

Nice, I surely will doosjclatchford wrote:watch this space...

Re: doom grade weapon sprites
These look nice but only the missile launcher just resembles the pickup sprite. I know this was the case in the Mac/Jaguar ports but I was not particularly fond of those.osjclatchford wrote:guess these should go here too... credits to mac/jaguar wolf3d, doom64(muzzzleflashes) freedoom(chaingun), rott(mp40) and blox (for shiny edits) and myself of course...

Re: [Wolf3D] PC DOS Style Missile Launcher and Flame Thrower
thanks for the kind words guys. here is the amended sheet:
as you can see there is a new chaingun flash and you can also see I kept the bodywork as it was but simply added more... for some reason, although closer to the original sprite, it looked too static with the bottom barrel section entirely covered so this is my compromise. as for the difference between pickups and hud view... please, when have they ever truly been the same in wolf3d or doom. theres always subtle differences, I kept them like this for nostalgic reasons anyhow...
Re: [Wolf3D] PC DOS Style Missile Launcher and Flame Thrower
The only pickup sprite that could really use a change is the MP40 one, I thing making it a bit darker would match the first person view. The others are fine.
Also, the chaingun kinda looks good in motion (I only used 3 frames for the gif).
