topic about existing weapons that werent made as sprites yet
So yeah like the title said this topic will be about trying to compile/listing weapons that exist in real life but that either havent been made into sprites yet or have been made into sprites.
No futuristic or fantasy like weapons,im talking about real life firearms, from the past to modern times. (1900'S to today)
It need to be handmade crafted sprites wich fit Doom design, not those images ripped directly from Call of Duty or any other similar games.
I know there are already a fews around, tough it would be helpful if you guys also helped in mentioning wich one were already made and wich one hasnt yet.
Maybe it will inspire and motivate peoples to create even more iconic firearms eventually.

I don't have a use for it as such, but I would love to see a P90. It looks futuristic, and would certainly fit a Doom mod with a more modern feel.

A P90 would indeed be interesting,it's unique shape and magazine make it an iconic weapon. Also it has a fast fire rate and can hold up to 50 bullets, those features make the P90 stand out from the rest of the sub machine guns.
Other firearms i havent seen yet are the Scar-L or H,the M60 and the M14.

XM8, Steyr, Kriss Vector and Dragunov are the real weapons that I would want to see recreated for Doom.

I know someone (Mike12?) was making a UTS-15 shotgun but I haven't seen anything of it since, I'd also like to see a FN F2000.

I agree with Mikk-, the FN F2000 is a very futuristic weapon. Which, by itself in real life, has a crap ton of ergonomic features, and it being a bullpup = awesome. It's a weapon I'd love to see as a sprite. A proper one.

Re: topic about existing weapons that werent made as sprites
I ripped some AR sprites from Halo, and that's basically an FN2000

Robert McLees from Bungie wrote:I don't know when the images of the FN F2000 appeared, but I didn't see them until three or four months after the game shipped, and I thought 'Oh great. Now everyone's going to think I swiped the design from Fabrique National.' It was surreal to see how close the Halo Assault rifle was to its real-life counterpart... and it was all totally by accident.

Yeah but it's not exactly 100% like the FN2000,there is a fews slight differences.
And like i said,no ripped sprites,so you directly taking the images from Halo doesnt count as having a true FN2000 as a hand crafted sprite.
So the FN2000 is also another firearm who hasnt been truly converted into a sprite.

I had an F2000 in one of my semi-old slightly-unfinished mods:

And a P90:

Please feel free to use these in your own thing, as long as I'm given credit. Unfortunately, I don't have the credits for the original models handy.

So the fact that I have 49 frames of raise, fire, reload, and melee animations for the AR is just... completely inconsequential? That doesn't seem hardly fair, considering it looks pretty good in-game.Freaklore1 wrote:Yeah but it's not exactly 100% like the FN2000,there is a fews slight differences.

I also have the pistol, shotgun, and rocket launcher in a similar state of completion.

Re: topic about existing weapons that werent made as sprites
Nope, using the AR from Halo doesnt count, because 1 it's ripped directly from an already exisisting game and 2 while it's appearance is similar to a FN2000 it is not THE true FN2000.
The weapons need to be firearms that exist in real life that are converted into doom (or any classic FPS from the 90's) looking sprites wich need to be build up from scratch.
Wild weasel posted a good exemple of what im talking about, the sprites he showed of the FN2000 and P90 look like the actual real life weapons handcrafted into doom like sprites.
We need to find wich weapons havent been converted like that at the moment.

Re: topic about existing weapons that werent made as sprites
Well, my sprites are still very much screenshot rips from existing models. I don't see why mine should be considered any more legit than Caligari's - his even have animation frames!

..................Now i dont know if both you WW and Caligari didnt understood what the topic is about or if I havent been clear enough, seriously do i really need to repeat myself for the 3rd time.
Let me ask you a question, does the Halo AR exist as a real weapon in REAL LIFE,no it doesnt it's a weapon from an already existing video game but it's not the FN2000,it's only a fictional alternate interpretation of it.
I clearly specified what this topic is about so stop shoving that Halo AR into it,this is not a topic about Halo,it's about real life weapons not fictional ones.
Also no,this topic is not hardly fair, read the specification again because im starting to grow tired of explaining it again and i dont want this confusion to drag on,so can we go back to the topic subject please.

...Okay, maybe I did miss the point of the thread, but I don't see why you feel the need to get this hostile about it.

Plus you were on the right track with your first post, but then your second one strayed from the topic subject.
