The Turok series, your toughts on it ?
Being born in 1992,i had quite a nice childhood experience when it came to video games,my first game being a NES with a multi-games cartridge (like about 100 games in one cartidge),then eventually the Snes with games like Donkey Kong Country (1,2 and 3),Zelda Alttp,Blackthorne,Mario World,Yoshi Island.
Then i got the N64,had my share fun with it,with games like Mario 64,Zelda OOT,Donkey Kong 64,Goldeneye,Banjo-Kazooie/Tooie,Conker Bad Fur Day and others.
But one game series on that console caught my attention,Turok.
The Turok N64 trilogy are the games i played the most on the console, had such good memories with it...ahem and a bit of frustration at time, but i had a blast.
Turok Evolution on PS2/Gamecube/Xbox wasnt bad,but not as good as the original trilogy...has for the one on PS3/Xbox360,that one was meh.
So what do you guys think of the series and share your memories with us.

Also im surprised how much peoples havent gave their opinions on the series yet,i mean c'mon it was one of the most iconic FPS back during the N64 era.
The weapons,the enemies,the environments,the story,the ambiance/mood,the soundtrack.
There must had been something you guys liked about those games,go ahead dont be shy and speak up your toughts.

Dinosaurs in overgrown silent hill with a Nintendo 64 controller, no thanks you, didn't even think about playing it, never got interested in the 64 at all to be honest, maybe i'll try the Kaiser-seal version for pc some day.

Remastered version is excellent. Can't wait for Turok 2 to receive the same treatment.

i've never played and have only been aware of it by name. i'll probably get the Steam version at some point if it's enticing enough.

Have the first game for pc and quite like it. Annoyingly low FOV, but quite a neat game. Been meaning to get the remastered version soon, and also to get my hands on the sequel somehow.

And yet another person mentioning the fog, seriously i didnt had a problem with it back in the day and even today i still dont have a problem with it.
Also just to mention, there are more than just dinosaurs in these games, there's human enemies, aliens, demons, robots+cyborgs, undeads, mutants and other sort of creatures.
But the best part to me of all the games is certainly the arsenal, there's quite a lots of weapons, some of em even have 2 types of ammos like the shotguns or an upgrade like the bow.
Turok 1 weapons : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awS6HOPvSz4
Turok 2 weapons : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yga9fI6ucQM
For those that dont like the N64 controller, some of the members here mentioned that the first game as been remastered on PC,so you can try that one out.

Edit:here is some review video of the remaster https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UsvK9ftDKP8 might convince some of you guys to try it out.

don't remember much, remember it being fun on multiplayer n64 though with enemies exploding in flowers when you shoot them

Re: The Turok series, your toughts on it ?
Yeah the cheats in the N64 trilogy were pretty crazy.
My toughts on each games:
Turok 1: good gameplay, nice selection of weapons and quite a diverse roster of enemies.
Turok 2: nice soundtrack (some songs were sad or mysterious or dark),the gameplay was ok but it kind of felt a bit slower compared to the first game when it come to movement speed and action,i liked some of the enemies designs like the 'Blind Ones'.
Turok 3: My favorite soundtrack (even darker and mysterious than Turok 2),i liked the choice of 2 characters with each having their own upgrades and unique atributes, some of the enemies designs were also quite nice, the return of the starting level from Turok 1 at the beginning of chapter 4...it was nice seeing the place again and i also liked some of the environments.
Turok Evolution: the gameplay was decent tough the game would had been better if they didnt added flying/shooting on a pterodactyl sections and replaced them with more on-foot levels, also i was disapointed that we didnt fight Lord Tyrannus in the game (this guy http://turok.wikia.com/wiki/File:Tyrannus03.jpg),he is still alive at the end of the game since we see him in the ending cutscene.
Turok PS3/Xbox360: I guess the gameplay is fine but,i didnt like the story like how the character is named Turok instead of being a title (wich mean 'Son of stone') and the fact that the 'Lost Land' is a planet instead of being a underground ecosystem like in the comics or another dimension like in the games.

I sad FOV, as in field of view. I can't stand really narrow FOV like that any more because it strains my eyes and gives me a headache.Freaklore1 wrote:And yet another person mentioning the fog
