Outback Anarchy - D.I.Y. R.I.P.

Post by LossForWords »

1989, moral decay and degeneracy runs rampant.
Thanks to the failings of our incompetent rulers, the streets are now litered with troubled,
violent youth, and their equally violent music.
You are one of many rebellious hooligans who one day, while doing nothing out of the ordinary,
Were transported into a chaotic world where humanity was enslaved by strife and violence under Hell's tyrannical rule.
The perfect place for an unrepenting troublemaker like you.
Your job? Speaking truth to power, and the language is incredible violence.

Stock up. Stack up. Rip the system.

Outback Anarchy is a weapons mod where you take control of foul-mouthed, highly-caffeinated and well armed
Australian punk Riley Parker, on her quest to to make whatever put her in this predicament three-feet under.

Wow!! An good weapon mod that happens to be a punked theme and even better, an early bday gift!! Thank you for this mod! I did recorded some gameplay video of how it plays. Btw in the video, I was working on a music pack from The Warriors PS2 game. So it's WIP as of now, but it almost done. The alt fire on each weapons are so interesting that some could turn the table on some of the combat scenario!

Honestly the Micro-Uzi is cool and all, but I'd feel either the Owen Gun or F1 SMG would be more thematically appropriate and hit the Australian vibe greater (especially considering both were produced here)

Good mod though, the character would definitely be from the "wrong side of the tracks" part of Newcastle haha. The weapon choices are definitely fitting and perfectly fit (Aus Military' old Parker-Hale M24 as the Sniper Rifle, L1A1 as the Plasma rifle-replacement, a lever action shotgun instead of the pump since only Farmers and the Police can use the former due to our gun laws, probably stolen former-police service Glock 17 as the pistol replacement, illegal fireworks etcetera)

I think the only thing I'd change about this mod is swapping the double barrel and the lever-action; the grenade altfire is *nuts*. (Also, adding +RANDOMIZE to the fire effects might make them look more natural, though it works by skipping ahead up to 3 tics. Not that anybody'll miss 3 tics of fire damage...)

Beyond that: Stuff goes boom good. I love this to bits. Simplicity is golden, and the duct tape holding this bundle of firecrackers together is silver.

On HMP, monsters and items don't seem to spawn.

Noted and fixed.
Also, Buffed the Parker-Hale's damage significantly, and fixed an issue with propane tanks spawning mid-air explosions.

This scratches so many sweet spots for me - it's not even fair lol.

The guns are surprisingly powerful and I love that. I'm a big fan of how the Glock and Uzi are positioned (may get flak for this, but over the years I've come to dislike centered weapons). Just how the weapons are held says a lot about the character for this mod. I've noticed an uptick in character-driven mods and I'm here for it. I hope we see more mods just like this one that have a clear vision and decisive execution.

The randomized voice lines are something I usually don't care for, but the audio level of the voice lines blends in with the game audio well. The voicework itself is just something I like and I don't think I'd ever turn it off.

Fantastic work.

This mod kicks so much ass! The first time I did the alt fire with the Molotov I sat there with my mouth hanging open. Keep up the good work LossForWords!

this mod is definitely neat, but one thing that bugged me was the altfire of the Lever action shotgun felt both in movement and audibly sloppy compared to the rest of the weapons.
After digging through the code i noticed why, and i propose a quick fix.
i will note that this one cuts some tics but they can be brought back using the WINC A if necesarry.
Image
Also why do you use Null instead TNT1?
Second thing that bugged me were the barrels, i like the fact that you can pick em up, but one thing that confuses me was the fact that it requires you to have autoswitch enabled to work, (otherwise you can just keep it under god knows downunda until you scroll to find it or press 1) though this one i do not have proposal on how to improve it.
Finally the keycards and Upgrades could use some better clarifications because for the most part they blend too well with the other pickups, the keycards especially blend too well with the ambience so perhaps making them more Saturated.
