That might very well be your problem, then. I can think of only one specific use case that'd require a version older than SP3, and I would bet you dollars that you don't fit that use case.Oberron wrote:I'm using SP2.

OK, the solution to the problem would be to get a new OS.

Did you try installing SP3 through Windows Update?Oberron wrote:OK, the solution to the problem would be to get a new OS.

Maybe it was just shenanigans with the virtual machine I was using, but it might be necessary to track down a tutorial of some kind of manually install service pack 3 and the necessary updates, as I don't think Windows Update supports XP anymore at all.wildweasel wrote:Did you try installing SP3 through Windows Update?

Re: WW-DRLA-Sounds [on github]
If they've flat-out disabled the ability to download software updates on XP, that's just about the stupidest thing I've heard. I figured by "no longer under active support" they actually meant "we are no longer creating new software and security updates."

You should still be able to download the latest updates, just that they won't release new updates.

Re: WW-DRLA-Sounds [on github]
People are dropping XP support left and right so updating to 7 would be a good idea.

Well then, I'm afraid you're probably screwed until you do.Oberron wrote:Never did
To get back on topic, I've been steadily adding little changes here and there, like the Outpost alarms, and different foot fall sounds per class. Renegade also got a jump sound.

Did you do anything with the default Battle Rifle firing sound? That one was always grating to me when you're firing for extended periods of time.

Re: WW-DRLA-Sounds [on github]
What you can download from the github page practically is the pk3, you just have the one extra step of running the batch file. There are clear instructions in both the first post and in the github page.Cyberdemon2006 wrote:Not to sound like an ass..

Re: WW-DRLA-Sounds [on github]
This has been updated again recently. Mostly some changes to the weaker weapons, the secret sounds from ww-mixed3, and a new sound for the Chameleon Rifle.
